By turn on denoising do you mean turn on OptiX denoising?
Also, are you using your CPU for rendering in Cycles?

If so, then yes, this is considered a bug, however it has already been fixed with commit rB9f12ea496a3f: Fix T80477: Crash when rendering with Embree but denoising with OptiX. This fix is currently available in Blender 2.91 alpha (which you can download here: http://builder.blender.org/, but expect bugs) and it will make it's way to the Blender 2.90.2 corrective release.

If this is not the issue you're experiencing, then please provide more information so we can better take a look at the issue you're experiencing.

@Alaska (Alaska) Im having the exact same problem. Im on blender 2.90.1 and whenever I turn on the rendered view in cycles with Optix denoising I instantly crash (render device set to cpu or gpu, still crash no matter what). It literraly didnt do that a couple days ago but now it just doesnt work.

Ive tried updating my graphics driver and emptying my Optix cache but nothing

@frenzi editing (Frenzi-) are you able to test Blender 2.91. That version of Blender should contain the fix I mentioned in my previous comment.
2.91 download: http://builder.blender.org/

@Alaska (Alaska) Thank you! works, everything seems fine as of now:)

Then rB9f12ea496a3f: Fix T80477: Crash when rendering with Embree but denoising with OptiX was probably the fix. If Blender 2.90.2 is released, then this fix will probably make it in there. And 2.90.2 is likely to be more stable than 2.91 alpha.
