System Information
Operating system: Linux Fedora 32
Graphics card:

Blender Version
2.90

Short description of error

First install, first running : how to juste move the default cube ?
Grab function just move the origin of the active cube, but impossible to move the cube...
...unless you activate the "Transform affects origin" checkbox in the Properties Panel _ Active Tool...
And yet, the transformation is inverted (i.e. : grab the object in the other way round)

I've seen this before myself and it relates to your graphics (either driver or hardware). In the blender folder there should be a file called blender-softwaregl, try running that and report back if it works correctly.

Additionally, using the regular blender executable, please also attach the system info file which can be generated from Help -> Save System Info

It works with "blender-softwaregl". My graphic engine is OpenGL, perhaps that's the fact !
What is the difference for the End User between generic "blender" and "blender-softwaregl" ? Are there some functionnalities missing in the second one ?

We will have to wait for @fclem or @Jeroen-Bakker to chime in. It's a really odd bug to say the least but I also experience this on a ubuntu 20 VM I have running on the side.

It could be a mesa 20.x driver problem. Your renderer is:

renderer:	'llvmpipe (LLVM 10.0.0, 256 bits)'
vendor: 'VMware, Inc.'
version:	'3.3 (Core Profile) Mesa 20.1.6'

The softwaregl version is hardcoded to use Mesa 18 (this can be seen if you generate the system info file when running that executable).

Functionally blender-softwaregl is the same, however it's massively slower and unsupported in general; except when troubleshooting issues like this.

Ok, thanks for all of those explanations, Roger, and let's wait for the fixing updates.
See you, and greatings for all the team over there in this rough period !!

@rboxman @brunocanty Blender requires a supported GPU as listed in the minimum requirements to function properly. The llvmpipe is a software renderer and not officially supported (see #67024, #72637).

Supported Graphics Cards

Should you be trying to run Blender in a VM, you will likely need a separate, dedicated GPU for PCI passthrough.
