Cannot render with two GPU in Viewport anymore #82650

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19041-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: 2x GeForce GTX 1070 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 457.30

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.91.0 Beta, branch: master, commit date: 2020-11-09 20:17, hash: f923b6faa9
Worked: (2.91.0 - three days ago)

Only 2.79 works. 2.8 does not work anymore too.

Short description of error

  1. I think there was a power draw and the computer shut down.
  2. I put the win10 SSD and cards into a different computer to test - same error
  3. I also did a windows10 NVIDIA driver updates

I cannot select both or a specific GPU to render with CUDA in VIEWPORT - render into an image works.

Interestingly pairing the working GTX 1070Ti with a GTX 970 too produces the issue - thus I think it is not the card.

Errors ranging from "Updating Integrator to various CUDA errors".

CUDA Error 2.jpg

CUDA ERROR 1.jpg

CUDA ERROR 4.jpg

CUD Error 3.jpg

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Render in viewport with specific single or both CUDA GPU

As a result Blender freeses with the "Updating Integrator error", quits, or shows a CUDA error and I have to rest Blender to make the other GPU work.

This could also be caused by windows or other system update. Can you try to rollback to date when things were working. Or uninstall and install nvidia drivers.
I have seen issues like this reported, but this was never Blender bug to my knowledge. I recommend to look for solution to this on forums or other sites.

please delete this task.

I just learned about the ability to rollback a driver and this did it.
