System Information
Operating system: Linux mike-HP-ZBook-15-G5 5.4.0-62-generic #70-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 12 12:45:47 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Graphics card: NVidia P2000 Quadro (see attached glxinfo.txt)

Blender Version
Broken: 2.91.0
Worked: If this is needed let me know. I would like to contribute to blender at some point so I can clone the repo and bisect for the issue, but I don't
have a ton of time right now.

Short description of error
The mesh object "rear_hull.lp" in the scene causes the blender process to crash when packing islands.
I am yet to test on my windows PC.
Note: in the reproduction blend, multiple objects are selected, not just the rear_hull.lp object, but it doesn't change the outcome.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. open the attached blend file
  2. in the uv editor pane on the left, click UV > Pack Islands
  3. boom crash

adding system-info.txt
currently downloading the 2.93.0 nightly build to check if it's fixed.

I've narrowed it down to this island:

it appears to be fixed in the 2.93.0 daily build for January 16, 2021, 11:00AM EST
I think I will try to use that as a workaround for now, and this bug once triaged can probably be closed.
Leaving it open in case someone wants to backport the fix into 2.90.1 or something similar.

For some reason firefox won't let me copy the link text, so I took a screenshot of the commit hash of the daily build info I downloaded:

There's a single "loose" edge in your object (not connected to any faces), which is what's causing the crash. This issue was fixed by c2a01a6c11 (note that despite the name it doesn't only concern Smart UV Project). The fix should also be included in the upcoming 2.91.1 corrective release.

(I assume self-resolving it is the correct thing to do)
