Crash when entering wireframe mode #85860

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10 64bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
Drivers : used the latest, and some other versions too.

Blender Version
2.91.2 (current and also had the same crash in 2.91)

Short description of error
Hi guys. Finally reporting this crash that happens when i enter wireframe mode (from the viewport, using the pie menu > W shortcut). It has been happening formonths, but usually i can get back my work thanks to the recovery backup.

I will send my debug logs along with my .crash.txt, and that for 3 crashes.

Frequency : higher on a scene with higher polycount. Happens occasionally and happens less on the latest build. than 2.91 for instance.
Also sometimes, the crash does not happen at the exact moment I enter wireframe mode, but shortly after (a few seconds).

I am not programmer but this guy seems involved : Exception Module : nvoglv64.dll (nvidia thing?). Shortly after switching to wireframe : bpy.context.space_data.shading.type = 'WIREFRAME'
If needed i can send the .blend file, but it contains work under NDA, let me know if you really need it. Also the crash happened many times working with other .blend files.

Crash is in GPU driver, but: cannot reproduce here.

Graphics card: GeForce GTX 970M/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 455.45.01
version: 2.92.0 Release Candidate, branch: master, commit date: 2021-02-22 12:21, hash: `rBe497c1b93ca5`

Just to make sure: do you get these crashes in the Release Candidate (or the 2.93 Alpha) from https://builder.blender.org/download/?
Also please run a seesion with Factory Defaults to see if this is still a problem then as well.

Hi. Just updating here.
So i tried 2.92 and 2.83 Alpha , for hours and reset to Factory Default. And i still get the same crash.
Also, once, i also add the crash .show_wireframes :

Hi. Since 2.93.0 i had 0 crash . And i have been using it for 50 hours + so i guess it is "good job Blender dev" .
