Short description of error
Blender freezes on render
Blender also freezes on texture bake and rendered viewport
Tried on 3 different PCs, all the same

If textures are unpacked, rendering is fine.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Simply open attached .blend file and hit F12

I can confirm.

This has no issues when unpacking the textures in 2.90 onwards, but it has when they are packed.
This used to work in 2.83 though which makes me think this is a regression.

You can use a packed textures in 2.90 onwards as well, but only to a very limited scope (it stops to work with a couple already).

Not exactly sure when the packed images rendering limitation was lifted (seems like it was working in all of the 2.8 series - whereas it was not working in 2.79 iirc).

Documentation regarding this changed between 2.81 and 2.82.

In any case, I think this is not a know limitation atm., so it should work actually.

I tested the scene again, in version 2.93.5 with unpacked textures. A few times still encountered freeze on render (4 freeze from 10 tries), and texture baking ("Bake" option in Render Properties) always caused freeze. If a specific amount of materials are withdrawn from the object, the texture bake worked though.
