Short description of error

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open attached file or:
    • Go to "texture painting mode" (in default workspace)・
    • Create 2 base color textures
    • Open Shader Editor
  • In the Shader Editor, select non -active texture ("Material Base Color 2")
  • in the View 3D, paint texture
  • Nothing happen in visual.
  • The other texture slot is changed instead of current active texture.

Thanks for the report, this is related to the problem described in T80699: Node Group Texture slot problem.
If you change the brush size, the texture slot is updated to the active image texture. So it's surprising that changing the active image texture doesn't automatically change the texture slot.

If this is a usability problem, it should definitely be mentioned in T68896: Texture painting usability.
