Strange bug with editing default shapekeys #87646

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 456.38

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.91.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2020-09-29 22:41, hash: e5aa9decb2
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
I'll be making major changes in edit mode with a default shape key, while other shape keys exist (ex. a blinking shapekey, eyebrows)
Normally it'll work as intended and the other created shape keys will apply the changes I make to the default key, no problems

So let's say I'm changing the proportions of a face, I make the changes in the default key, check the blinking key, etc, all the changes go through fine, but randomly they choose not to without any way to predict it.

Here's an example I managed to capture. Keep in mind 9 times out of 10 it works the way I want to, this is just an uncommon but very annoying bug.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Edit the default shape key of something and see if other shapekeys will randomly ignore the changes. Probably more likely after a long period of edit mode changes without switching shape keys for a good while.

Thank you.

Please add exact steps to redo the bug and attach a simple blend file that demonstrates the issue.

I have added exact steps and this can be reproduced with any .blend, and since the issue happens at complete random, there's no way to demonstrate it besides the video.

I assume you are talking about the changes to the ear. In your video, the state of the ear at 0:19 before changing from the default key is identical to the ear at 0:20 after changing to the default key again. So the changes are retained in the default key. When changing to the Eyes_Blink key, the changes to the ear are diminished, so could it just be that that key applied changes to the ear itself, canceling the changes you intended on the default key? It would really be best if you can provide a file so that we can investigate the issue, as we are not able to reproduce that on a simple file as suggested.

Just a poke regarding my inquiry above, otherwise we will have to archive this for now.
