System Information

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.0.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-04-19 20:49, hash:
795f024558
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected) It's an experimental file to use in 2.93 and 3.0, but when opening the file in 2.92, I've noticed that undoing the first sculpt mark seems broken.
Short description of error
As the title says, hitting 'Save' (command-s) sometimes crashes blender 2.93 and 3.0 while sculpting a particular object. In addition, the file is occasionally corrupted so that it can no longer be opened, but when I change the backup file from .blend1 to .blend, this version reliably opens but obviously without the last session which crashed. Similarly, after a render/save image, closing the pop up render window sometimes crashes blender.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
There seems to be no recognisable pattern so far. More often than not the file saves without issue, but the crashes are pretty frequent compared to previous versions of Blender running on operating systems earlier than Mac os Big Sur.

An additional observation: I often make the blender window smaller than the default full screen width so I can watch youtube or tv as I work. Having wondered whether this may be a factor in crashing, so far when leaving the window at default size I have not experienced crashes. Probably not a factor but worth mentioning.
In 2.93 latest beta I did a sculpt session, hit save, which weirdly made this happen to the model. The file is now corrupt when opened in 2.92, 2.93 and 3.0, but the backup .blend1 file is not - although it didn't retain the latest sculpting session.

Possible duplicate of #83791 (Blender crash on iMac Pro with Big Sur)
It may be a coincidence and I don't for one minute pretend to understand why but working on this in April 23rd download of 2.93 beta seems pretty stable so far. No crashes or corruptions even though I've reduced the width of the Blender window and have Safari playing video in the background. The only other new thing I did was disable the splash screen on startup. I don't see how that might make a difference but reporting it anyway.

Try to test again with factory settings if crash is still producible. (
File-> Defaults -> Load Factory Settings
).Thanks Pratik. I've done that and so far no crashes. I'll keep you informed.
Great!
Sure @boxy , but will close the task if you get no crash in a week.
Oh no, I got a couple of crashes on different files today! Will keep reporting.
Thanks
I was told how to open Blender from the console on Mac OS. I got a random crash in grease pencil. Should I add that crash report here or start a new task?
Thanks
I have been updating and using 2.93 and 3.0 alpha for a few days without crashes so I guess for now these issues have gone away.

@boxy Can you confirm whether problem could be considered resolved?
Yes I think so. I couldn't find a pattern but with each daily upgrade the crashes have diminished and it feels pretty reliable right now. Will keep an eye out.
Thanks.

Thanks for update. If you encounter problems again, please make new report.
