Intel OpenImage Denoiser bogs down interactivity with blender when being used interactively on Mac #87699

Short description of error
When working in a heavy scene (the barbershop demo, for example), the UI will often "beach ball" or lock up for brief periods during an interactive denoise calculation. On a pc, these calculations don't appear to bog down the interface the way it does on Mac, even when only using the cpu. SHouldn't the expected behavior be that the UI remains responsive, even when the denser is active? The UI remains very snappy during interactive rendering when denser is off on the Mac.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Open the barbershop demo, turn on interactive cycles rendering with OpenImage viewport denoising set to 1, then start tumbling and moving around in the viewport. Within a few moments, you will like start seeing the "beach ball" and the UI starting to hitch and lock up until the densoiser finishes its calculation.
