System Information
Operating system: Windows-10 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 466.11

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.92.0, branch: master, commit date: 2021-02-24 16:25, hash: rB02948a2cab44
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
When I import Multilayerd . exr files as strip in VSE, they are transparent.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
All you need is: ad a strip that is a multilayered . exr file.
Seems like a very old problem https://blenderartists.org/t/exr-file-in-blender-video-sequence-editor/550971/18

EXPECTED RESULT: In other softwares, when you add a .exr with multiple layers you can choose if you want to import all layers and passes or only some of them as sepereate strips.

Event Timeline

This unfortunately is a known (documented) limitation:

https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/render/output/animation.html#frame-sequence-workflow

It has also been reported before, see T53292 and T37139.
So while it would certainly be good to have this supported at some point, it is not considered a bug for now.

OK, I see. Though, at least an error message or some kind of info to the user would make it seem less like a bug. Right now it does import something and shows up as a transparent strip!

We spent quite some time wondering and until I found the workaround you show in the manual on my own, my legendary blender friend was certain that this is actually possible in VSE. :D
