System Information
Operating system: Linux KDE Manjaro
Graphics card: GTX 750 Ti
Blender Version
Broken: 2.92 and 3.0.0 Alpha
Worked: Same issue
Short description of error
Inset (tool) is pretty much unusable in orthographic view. I think the gizmo is angled incorrectly and should be parallel to the surface, not perpendicular
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
On the default Start up file with Cube
Front
by pressing1
on Numpad.Active Tool
W
or select the Inset Tool from the Tool Set on the left. And it will appear on the top.OR
Drag: Active Tool
, Change it toSelect Box
or any other type.I
)Observation: It is hard to use the inset tool, as there is no proper animation shown.

Hi, I tried it on a default cube, it didn't look so "unusable" per se. Could you attach a simple blend file which makes it difficult to use in a specific way?
(I can see the difficulty a bit in the video but cannot reproduce it)
Hello. It's the same way on the default cube for me as well.
I don't have any issue with how the gizmo works except in situations like I've shown in the video (I look at the face directly from the side view when trying to line it up with the blueprints)
Oh, I see, the problem is only when the "Drag" option in tool settings is set to something other than "Active tool"
Like here
Here I reproduce this issue from the startup scene, as you can see it works fine with "Active tool" but the gizmo doesn't really work. Also bevel has gizmo the same way but it does work fine 2021-05-03 09-23-37.mp4
