This issue does not cause a crash in Blender 3 and maybe be an easy fix but is possibly also very low-prioirity.

System Information
Operating system: 5.10.0-6-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.28-1 (2021-04-09) x86_64 GNU/Linux
Window manager: i3wm
Graphics card: N/A
SHELL=/bin/bash
...
QT_ACCESSIBILITY=1
COLORTERM=truecolor
XDG_SESSION_PATH=/org/freedesktop/DisplayManager/Session0
LANGUAGE=en_GB:en
...
DESKTOP_SESSION=i3

$ setxkbmap -v
Trying to build keymap using the following components:
keycodes: evdev+aliases(qwerty)
types: complete
compat: complete
symbols: pc+fi+inet(evdev)
geometry: pc(pc105)

Blender Version
Most recent known applicable version: blender-3.0.0-e19ee2e212ab-linux64
Worked: (unknown)

Short description of error
Multiple text file selection only loads the last text file selected using Ctrl+LMB.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Run ./blender from a shell and where the default .blend file is the unchanged (factory) original.
  • Click LMB outside the splash screen area to dismiss it.
  • Locate and click LMB the Scripting Workspace Tab.
  • LMB click the Open Text / "bpy.ops.text.open()" button.
  • Navigate using the Blender File View dialog to a directory with multiple text files.
  • Holding the Ctrl key, use the LMB to click-select more than one text file.

With more than one text file highlighted/selected, release the Ctrl key and LMB click the Open Text button.

Expected result: all the selected text files become available text blocks in the Text Editor.
Current result: the last file selected opens in a new active Text Editor view.

Inputting the bpy / Python instruction D.texts- [x]⏎ indicates that all but the last selected among the text files were either not loaded or not made visible or available in Blender.

Currently, only opening of single file is supported.
Ability to select multiple files in file browser can not be restricted an always works.

So this is not a bug but rather 2 missing features that look like a bug.

There is definitely room for improvement, but this tracker is only for bugs, so I will close this report. Thanks for reporting anyway.
