Please download latest alpha version from https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/ and check if this also doesn't start.
Richard,
I really have no idea why, but the alpha I downloaded today worked instantly, whereas it did not yesterday. Fingers crossed, it keeps working.
Thanks,
Brian
After some more experimentation, it seems that the issue is caused by connecting to my monitors. I tried connecting after blender launched and the app would show, but I could not click on anything.
Any ideas here?
I am aware if some issues when you plug in monitors to multiple GPU cards. If you do have intel CPU and monitor plugged into motherboard while using nvidia card this can cause issues. All munitors should be plugged into one card.
Can you check if this applies to your setup?
My laptop is plugged into an adapter, which then is connected to two monitors. When I look in "Devices", it shows an external graphics card for the monitors. Is there a way to route everything to one card? I can't plug them into the card directly.
As far as I know this is quite old problem and it is still unresolved. Looking at comments on thread there is said, that
Sometimes these configurations have the ability in the bios to select which GPU is the primary GPU...
orThere are also other ways to run with only one gpu. Sometimes, you can just rightclick on the executable file and choose with gpu to use.
Check out task #72098 to see whether there is some workaround that will work for you.
Closed as duplicate of #72098
I was able to resolve the issue by going into the bios and turning the DGPU off. I can now open Blender and used the app on my monitors.
