System Information
Operating system: macOS-11.4-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 580 OpenGL Engine ATI Technologies Inc. 4.1 ATI-4.5.14

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.93.1 Release Candidate, branch: master, commit date: 2021-06-02 15:10, hash: 7edbe463d2
Worked: 2.92, and works on 2.93 windows.

Short description of error
the original panel becomes inactive after creation of a floating panel.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Create a new .blend file with the single cube, don't add anything, create a floating panel (shift click on top left corner of any existing panel with the little cross), then the main panel set becomes inactive (can't delete, add..; anything, right click on an object (cube for instance) in the outliner opens the menu but you can't click on anything on the menu. The new created floating panel is active, one can add objects or delete them. The original main window is active again after closing the floating panel.

Thanks !!!

Here is an exaample of what happens if I create a new .blend file (not with the menus which are unavailable with a floating panel opened, but with ctrl N) :

@jean-martin-barbut , thanks for the report. Does this still happen with recent 2.93.2 build? : https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/

Also try again with factory settings: File-> Defaults -> Load Factory Settings

Maybe an OS specific issue. I can not reproduce this on windows

@pratik-2 Borhade (PratikPB2123). Thanks for your answer. Not the last release candidate 2,93,1 doesn't solve the issue. It is effectiveley a OS specific issue and also a blender 2.92+ issue. It didn't happen on 2.91- versions. I can confirm that I don't have the issue on windows or Linux. And I can give you more precisions about the issue : if, after the creation of the floating window, you save the file (cmd S will not work or will be be veeeeeeery long to react) by quitting blender and saving the file with the floating window, then, if you open it again, everything goes right. That mean that if you open a file with the floating window, everything is fine, but if you create the floating window within a file, the you have to save it, quit blender et open the file again to have a normal behaviour.

@jean-martin-barbut , upgrading the driver may fix the issue: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/troubleshooting/gpu/index.html#macos

right click on an object (cube for instance) in the outliner opens the menu but you can't click on anything on the menu

Can't redo: clicking an object in outliner selects and then context menu works as usual (tried copy paste datablock).

If you're clicking in the viewport: that's because no object is selected as shown in the outliner. If you click on cube once, it gets selected, outliner shows it yellow & blue. Then right click in viewport -> shade smooth (or any operator) works.

Tested on macos 10.14 & 11.4 with 2.93.1 & 2.93.4

As a workaround, use "New Window" from topbar Window menu.

See #92331 (Creating a detached window makes the main window irreversibly loose focus in 2.93.2 +)

@ankitm you can click/select or perform some other action, but you cannot use keyboard shortcuts.

Both reports are identical so I think it will be safe to merge this into #92331
