System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 960M

Blender Version
Broken: 2.93, 2.92
Worked: 2.83

Short description of error
I have multiple blender versions and some of them started having this startup crash problem, I tried to install the latest blender release and it crashes at startup...The only version that is working is the 2.83.
I have a dual monitor setup, and I'm not sure if that could be the problem.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Did you try restoring Blender to factory defaults? You can delete the existing config files from Blender's directories: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/advanced/blender_directory_layout.html

As for the dual monitor setup: just disconnect one of your monitors and test again.

I deleted the config files and it worked, but now I don't have my startup settings...I remember once I accidentally clicked on "restore factory defaults" instead of "Save startup file"...was this the problem? is this a bug or I did something wrong?

I guess the problem comes when I save as startup file....I opened a file that had the same startup settings as my last files in the 2.93 version and it opened, and than I saved as startup file (in the 2.93 version), closed and opened again and I had the same startup crash problem

So do you think it is a bug? If so, then please describe the exact same steps you performed to reproduce your problem.

So when I append a collection from another file and than "Save as Startup" the next time I open it it's crashing at startup.

I wouldn't call that exact instructions. But I tried to understand and reproduce your issue, but Blender didn't crash for me. What I tried:

  1. Start fresh new Blender 2.93 (deleted config files before starting).
  2. Don't import older Blender settings.
  3. Append a collection from another Blend.
  4. Save as startup.
  5. Quit en restart Blender.
  6. Works just fine and model appended from other collection appears at startup.

Did you perform the same steps? If yes, then please attach the Blend files that caused your version to crash.

I tried appending from other files and now it works...I don't even remember which blend file was creating the problem..if I find it I will attach it here..Thanks for the support

So I guess this one can be closed.
