Hello, i had downloaded blender 2.93 a while back, but it wasn't opening when i clicked the icon. I was told to update my drivers, which i did. However, the problem was not completely resolved as it keeps not responding mid-work. I can be doing work, but it just starts "Not responding". Sometimes, it just doesn't open when i click the icon. It is really frustrating. what can i do?

how to report a bug

When you can start blender, go to the tab "help" and choose "report a bug".
Blender will get basic but necessary data on your PC and your OS and paste them automatically in a bur report form.
Please try to go that way.

Please open Blender's installation directory and double click on the blender_debug_gpu.cmd. This will start Blender in debug mode and create log files. Try to make Blender freeze again then close it. Once it is closed the Windows Explorer should open and show you up to two files, a debug log and the system information. Add them to your bug report by clicking on the upload button as shown in the screenshot below or via drag and drop.

@Mumpe In order to investigate we need logs files from a case where the freeze happens and steps that allow us to reproduce the problem.

when i try to open it using the desktop icon by double clicking, it doesn't work. However when i use the programs installation directory and double click blender_debug_gpu, it works. I don't get it

@Mumpe Just to check, are you sure that they open the exact same Blender version or could the desktop shortcut open an older/different version? You can check this by right-clicking on the desktop shortcut and selecting Properties.

i've gone through the tickets in the commet section. none of them seemed to have the answer either.

@Mumpe you can try that and load factory default settings. If we are unable to either get a crash or debug log we can't do much anyway as we have no way to identify the cause or reproduce the issue on our systems.

@Mumpe Checking your system info again, it seems to me you didn't update your Radeon 520 driver to the most recent version, which can be downloaded here . The current version is 27.20.22001.14011 (for the actual driver) and you have 26.20.11002.12 installed according to the system info.

Thanks alot for the tip. I appreciate it. I had visited this site earlier to download and install my drivers manually, but i just couldn't see the download link...haha

i have downloaded the driver twice, even the Combined Chipset and Radeon Graphics driver installer but my pc shows they are 0 bytes in size..

so i did re-click on the debug option. Blender freezed again and produced 2 debug logs. Although i do not know why the debug text is still empty. Only system info shows up

Hi, I was able to look at your first log. Your AMD Video is recent and should support OPENGL 4.5. And it seem that your drivers are installed.

But I see that some shaders are failing on your card, the devs will have to see why those shaders are failing:

it's not just blender, but substance painter and z brush, photoshop too..alot of softwares that require graphics card. So what can i now do to solve the shaders in the graphics card?

Hi, you can't fix shaders since they are coded in the software. You seem to have lots of issues with other software and not just Blender; upgrading the driver is recommended.

Try this link to the AMD driver download site
Please also delete all the files in your download folder. So there should be no issues when you download the driver.

anyway, i will report to amd about that issue
however, i do have another serious issue with blender. I had been working on a project for the last 2 weeks, and when i opened my blend file today, it just opened up a new file with the cube in the center. i restarted my pc but the issue persisted!
i cant afford to lose my project. what is the issue and how can i resolve it?

Since this report was kind of stuck for a while now, I have to ask again: do you still have the issue with fresh drivers and fresh builds from https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/?

This might also be a problem with the GPU itself (broken hardware), so unless this cannot be verified on other computers (or by other users), there is little chance to progress here.
I will tag this report Unconfirmed with the following consequences:

The issue reported can't be reproduced so far, and has been moved to the BF Blender: Unconfirmed project.
If 2 other people aren't able to redo the bug after 2 weeks, it will be closed.

We appreciate the effort that goes into making bug reports, but to be able to fix bugs we have to be able to redo them.
