System Information
Operating system:
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H1
Installed on 06/29/2021
OS build 19043.1110
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0
Graphics card:
MSI Gaming X Trio AMD Radeon RX 6900XT
Radeon Software Version: 21.7.2
(Issue also occurs in version 21.7.1; Just updated to newest version in hopes of fixing the issue)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
Blender Version
Broken: 2.92.0, 2.93.1, 2.90.0, 2.80
Worked: None so far
Short description of error
The application immediately crashes when Cycles Render Devices is set to OpenCL. The application will on occasion may crash without warning even without interacting with such settings.
Version 2.80 is the most prone to sudden crashes and may crash upon performing Edit -> Preferences -> System on startup.
For versions 2.90, 2.92.0, 2.93.1, 3.0.0-alpha master, tool icons, such as Move tool will experience graphical distortion and artifacting upon startup sometimes.
Windows Event Viewer and Reliability History only records the application crash for version 2.80. None of the versions tested have generated crash logs under C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp - No text files have been found.
I have run Opendata blenchmark successfully in the past using version 2.92.0:
https://opendata.blender.org/benchmarks/b210d419-e292-4f5a-b219-70635be5abef/
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).
On Startup:
Edit -> Preferences -> System -> Cycle Render Devices -> OpenCL
Edit -> Preferences -> Add-ons -> Install results in a similar issue as well. At times Edit -> Preferences -> Add-ons is already enough to cause an undocumented crash that does not generate any .txt crash logs.

Thanks for the report. I can not reproduce the crash on master:

Please start blender with
blender_debug_log.cmd
. After the crash it will generate two files in windows explorer. Add both the files in this thread.System Information
These logs are from version 2.93.1

Thanks for the file. Information given in the log files is not useful.
Does the crash happens right after opening the explorer? Also is it a crash or just blender freezes for a long time?
Can you please add a short video to describe the crash steps. I can not reproduce the crash with present given steps :)
First recording:
2021-07-30_14-50-27.mkv
Second recording:

Either one happens at random. Do you want me to keep attaching the debug log files even if they are not providing anything useful?
I've been also having other applications crash lately as well:

Could all of these be related to each other? I am not too sure as to what C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll does or how it interacts with the crashing applications.

ntdll.dll is fundamental part of your operating system. Lots of things crashing there make me suspect either a broken operating system install or a hard drive going bad.
Reformatted my OS drive and reinstalled Windows. As of now, everything is working as expected.
PSA: If your Windows installation ever crashes partway, reformat and reinstall it again - even if it looks like it's working fine. The command line tools to fix such issues that Microsoft provides are POS and don't do jack. I can't believe I never encountered the ntdll.dll error earlier (would also have saved me the time and trouble of reinstalling everything if it didn't just decide to show up ~30 days after installation to screw me over)
After the clean reinstall, my computer runs ~4 - 5 degrees Celsius cooler and my monitor no longer shuts itself down when idle (when Windows Power settings are set to never turn off the display or go to sleep).
I apologize for posting a non-Blender bug report.

@Frederick-Tian , will close if problem is fixed.
@StephenSwaney , thanks! :)
