Selecting and removing of self intersection geometry #93308

Short description of error
Can't select and remove self intersecting geometry it keeps sayingno intersections found.
I've also posted a question to see if it's just changed function or a possible bug.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Select geometry and use Face -Intersect (Kinfe) - Self intersect.

Looks like in your file the intersect already took place?
(when I do Select > All By Trait > Non Manifold I can already see the cutting edges selected).

What makes this file also different is that the cutting edges have not been separated, so what Campbell does then (Select Linked, Select Invert etc.) does not work out nicely anymore.
(you could still mark the non manifold edges as seams and select linked with seam delimiter, but still, lets do this from scratch):

  • open this file
  • Intersect Knife (Self Intersect, Separate Mode: All (this is important to be able to select the different parts better), Fast)

  • edge select mode
  • Select > All By Trait > Non Manifold (to see where the cuts have been made)
  • deselect all
  • face select mode
  • select one of the outer faces
  • {key Ctrl + L} (to select all outer faces)
  • {key Ctrl + I} (to select all inner faces)
  • voila, you can now move the inner part elsewhere (or delete it)

So to sum it up: this does not seem like a bug, will close
(but of course feel free to comment again if issues persist)
