System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19044-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 472.84

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.1.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-12-20 00:52, hash: blender/blender@34fac7a670
Worked: Don't know for sure, but probably in 3.0 release version?

Short description of error
When using the Material Utilities add-on, the Assign Material and Select by Material menus are not properly indexed until you initiate a search and press the subsequent material drop-down. This was previously not necessary.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Activate the Material Utilities add-on.
  • Copy the default Blender cube a number of times.
  • Assign different materials to each cube.
  • Press Shift + Q and go to the Assign Material and Select by Material menu.
  • No or too few materials are displayed in the list.
  • Initiate a search and click on the subsequent material drop-down menu to have the materials indexed and make the add-on work as before.

Hi Metin, not 3.0.0 release but it indeed works on 2.93LTS

May be recent API changes broke the functionality? (not really sure)

Thanks for the confirmation, Pratik!

Yeah, I was also thinking the recent API changes might be the culprit.
