Switching payment method via the "Change payment method" handles collection methods of outstanding order the right way.
However, the reason this still happens is because paying for an order manually also switches payment method to the one that was used, which allows one to switch over to bank payment bypassing the logic that takes care of the outstanding order's collection methods.
