Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)
Short description of error
Hi! I have a laptop Asus rog strix G513qy Advantage Edition with AMD RX 6800m and blender just closed each time i hit render in all versions from blender 3.0 to blender 3.2. It was written that blender HIP supports RX 6000 series.
If I open blender with default cube scene and hit render in viewport it works with cube but only in blender 3.2.
But with any other scene with materials and etc it crashes.
Rendering works with CPU rendering.
But crash with CPU+GPU or GPU
Thanks!
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open scene. Hit render with Cycles HIP

Can you attach the crash report written by Blender when it closes? https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/troubleshooting/crash.html
Can you try different device configurations and see if any work? For instance, disable the CPU and only render with one of the GPU entries.
Hi! Yes, i tried to use different device configurations. It only works with CPU rendering only. But CPU+GPU or any other GPU dont work

crash report when i am using CPU+GPU rendering: Product1.crash.txt
Hi there! Any news about this issue?

Can you try the latest drivers for your GPU.
Yes i tried this one - its the latest adrenaline ADM driver. Still same same issue - blender crashes
This seems like a bug. Please attach the latest crash reports.
You could also leave feedback at ..

Thanks! Here is latest crush report. Also if i open blender with default cube scene and hit render in viewport it works with cube but only in blender 3.2 . But with any other scene with materials and etc it crashes.

Hi, then please also upload that .blend file.
Hi! Here it is. But it happens with any scene. MooN3.blend

Thanks for the file
@ThomasDinges hi, can you test this crash on your desktop card of RX series?
Hi! Any news on this issue?
I get a driver timeout with the MooN3.blend file^^

Hi! Here you can also see artifacts in rendered viewport of default cubes. Same with rendered image
Also maybe HIP should be optimized to work with laptop GPUs which also has integrated gpus and can cause this issues?
Any thoughts? Please help! Thanks!

Hi! Any news about this issue? With latest drivers which were released few days ago glitches were gone, but still cant render anything else except of default cube. Blender crashes

Hello, I have the same problem. Empirically, I realized that crashes occur when a texture is applied to any object and the GPU is turned on
Here is the bug report
Snake3.crash.txt
Hello. In the morning I decided to reinstall absolutely all the drivers from the official Asus website. As a result, all blender problems disappeared. Might be useful
P.s. I also disabled the SmartAccess Memory feature.

Hello, has this issue been fixed? Im seeing this exact same issue on my ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 laptop with AMD Radeon RX 6800S. Im trying to use HIP and it crashes every time I hit render.
I found a work around, I have to go into device manager in the windows settings and disable the integrated graphics and leave the discrete graphics enabled. When I do that, it works. However, ideally I would like to have them both enabled.
I have attached my crash log. I also ran on latest 3.1.2 Blender and nothing changed, same issue. All my drivers for GPU and cpu are up to date.
ETA on fix? Thanks!

@EDUART, does this help solving the crash?
It seems crash only happens with mobile GPUs
HIP issue with RX 6800mto HIP: Crash on rendering@EDUART, any news?
Same problem has been reported before and upgrading drivers has solved the crash for them #97997 (Crash while rendering image textures on Cycles using the AMD Radeon RX 6600m graphics card)
https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-6000m-series/amd-radeon-rx-6000m-series/amd-radeon-rx-6800m
Any updates on this crashing issue? Still can't seem to run HIP renders on my AMD Radeon RX 6800S
Have you tried turning off SmartAccess Memory?
I have not, but I will give this a try. Is there a specific reason you're recommending this work around? Has it been proven to fix it?
Tried the work around, it stopped the crashing but then I got an error say can't find any compatible HIP compute devices. Lead me to this ongoing issue https://developer.blender.org/T96397
On Blender 3.2, this works. Is there still a ongoing fix for crashing with smart access memory is on?

CC @BrianSavery @sayakAMD.
From #97997 it seems updating GPU drivers is the way to fix the crash.
Not much activity going on in this report so probably we can close the report according to bug trackers policy (No reply after a week )

I'm using the same laptop as @itschrisho, running linux. For some reason I have two GPU options, and if both are checked, the render crashes. Leaving only the first one checked allows rendering using HIP (which I appreciate a lot)
