This script addon is intended to complete or replace the actual node_presets.py
it adds several new features and it gives extra settings.
Here is the link:
https://github.com/KoreTeknology/Blender-GN-Library-Addon
At this time this addon is only related to geometry nodes, it adds 4 libraries paths to categories of user presets. it shows up only in the GN area and only looks for nodegroups of Geometry type.
i dev this addon because of my personal use but i think it is useful for others.
i am planning too to extend this addon by offering similar features for each types of nodes in Blender:
Added subscriber: @Uriel_Deveaud
Added subscriber: @HooglyBoogly
Cool addon, seems like it could make some workflows much faster! I think the basic plan is for the asset browser to have many of these features. See related tasks:
How do you see this addon relating to these future builtin features? I think in general the idea is to avoid bundling addons that provide functionality that will be built into Blender soon.
Changed status from 'Needs Triage' to: 'Needs User Info'
Hi Hans,
i dev this addon mainly because i didnt see in some cases* the need to open the asset manager to access our user geometry nodegroups libraries. From our experience, there are 2 types of libraries usages. The first one is the shared server files, set in the asset manager/browser, where people are looking at the common archives (model, mats, lights,etc... The second one is the individual customization of the Add menu, to access personal construction kits and prototyping pre-made parametric objects.
I also do mention here the role of such pugins in educational environment (beginners support, organizational, classroom training,etc...), where the customizable category names offers a wide range of possibilities, access to practices and lessons, Geometry nodes demos, presets... directly in the related window area, from the most common shortcut SHIFT-A. This addon also offer a custom project folder path to access projects structure and geometry node collections.
The last 1.4.1 release of the plugins is ready for publishing, would be nice if it can be included in the next official release.
I am fully open to consider any development further if someone thinks there are more features to be included (i am in).
let me know, bye
Hi,
I'm not really involved with the addons module at all, so I'm not in a position to make these decisions. I'm mostly responding since this ticket is tagged with the geometry nodes project.
The features you mention like additions in the add menu are planned to be added to Blender itself, though there is no one working on them at the moment.
That's basically my point though-- if the addon is mainly covering a lack of features that are planned to be added to vanilla Blender in the future, maybe it's better to just develop those features.

Recently these tasks have been progressing, and it's clear that a solution to this workflow would involve the asset browser. So I'll close this task, just for clarity. Thanks for mentioning this again though.
