Worked: Any version using linux/windows

Short description of error
Blender crashes with a viewport in wireframe mode or tries to allocate ~100 GB memory when .

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Base: default blend file.

  1. Go to "Geometry Node" tab
  2. Create new node setup
  3. Add Mesh line node
  4. Set count to something big like 256^3 (this was my test case)
  5. Switch the viewport to wireframe
  6. Crash

Note: Slower increase can lead to huge memory consumption by blender:

This seems to be fixed with the metal viewport backend; no crash anymore with up to a count of 100.000.000 (although pushing it at 200.000.000 Blender starts to behave erratically, slowing down and reporting negative amounts of several PiB of memory usage).
