Short description of error
The colour swatches do not sync between the Image Editor and Sculpt Mode when you have both open simultaneously. The primary and secondary colours just do not match.

There are multiple ways to reproduce this.

  • Press X with my keybinds list inside Sculpt Mode or click the swap swatches icon.
  • Colour pick with the tools from either Sculpt Mode or the Image Editor.

This hasn't been designed or implemented. It should be done as part of the paint mode.
You're are testing an experimental feature. Currenlty 3d texture painting supports basic strokes and undo/redo.
At this time we cannot accept any bugs via the bug tracker as most have not been developed and should be tagged as todos if it fits within the design otherwise closed/archived. As the design is currenlty unclear of paint mode (the main reason why it is an experimental feature)

@Jeroen-Bakker Okay, but how do you expect people to give feedback and report on these problems if we can't use the bug report website to do so? Going to be hard to actually Alpha test anything as long as new features continue to be marked as experimental.

Color swatches are tied to brushes.
For Texture Paint in the 3DView and the Image Editor in paint mode, the tools and brushes are synched/the same; in sculptmode, these are totally different tools/brushes though.
This should be unified, yes, not sure though how the plan forward here is in regards to design (if iirc, this all is supposed to end up in one unified paintmode?)

As discussed in chat, I will confirm this first, #sculpt_paint_texture might decide to close this though, since this feature is now only in Prototype" status...

I'll close this task since this is not a bug, but essentially a feature request. For further Paint Mode development we will make sure that the 3D Viewport and Image Editor paint mode tools are in sync. But for now this is still to do.
