Eevee Next won't shade Viewport any more, 3.3.0 master on Intel Mac (Mojave and Big Sur) #98327

Operating system: macOS Mojave 10.14.6 (18G9323)
Graphics card: 2 x AMD FirePro D500 3 GB

Blender Version
Broken: 3.3.0, d095fcd6b4, master, 2022-05-23
Worked: 3.3.0, df26f4f63a, master, 2022-05-18

Short description of error

Eevee Next does not shade on viewport anymore.
Default cube completely disappears, only shows boundary if selected.

Error: No shader storage buffer support

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Open Blender > default scene (cube)
Select Viewport Shading > Material Preview
Go to Render Properties > Render Engine and select Eevee Next

Based on the default startup.

Hi, thanks for the report. EEVEE next is in development stage. So I don't think eevee developers are accepting bug reports of EEVEE next.

This is not a bug, Eevee next requires OpenGL 4.3 or eventulally Metal/Vulkan capable hardware. The mentioned platform would not be supported anymore.

Sorry to read that, But it worked fine until a couple of builds ago, and my Mac Pro (Late 2013) is supposed to support Metal and Metal 2:

Metal 2
Supported by the following Mac models:

MacBook (Early 2015 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2012 or newer)
Mac mini (Late 2012 or newer)
iMac (Late 2012 or newer)
Mac Pro (Late 2013)

Metal: Supported, feature set macOS GPUFamily2 v1

No luck for us anyway? Not even on Big Sur on Monterey?

EEVEE-Next will be supported on hardware meeting our Metal requirements. But in its current state, the Metal back-end cannot be used for drawing or rendering EEVEE-Next and the OpenGL implementation is stuck to 3.3 (or 4.1 in some cases) on MacOS.
