Blender 4.5 LTS: Sculpt, Paint, Texture¶
General¶
- Mask by Color operator is added to the Mask menu and works with the redo panel (5b04b4ac18).
- Property changes while in Weight Paint and Vertex Paint modes now create undo steps when appropriate (96869d03d4, e1d3538980).
- The newly added "Manifold" boolean solver is available in Sculpt Mode. This can give much better performance and reliability for the trim tools than the existing solvers, though it requires a manifold sculpt mesh (0e0d1d4cba).
- The Asset Activate operator used when selecting brushes supports a toggle mode, and has been enabled by default for the Mask brush in Sculpt Mode (9e1e9b0859).
Brushes¶
- Brush assets support duplication into the current
.blendfile (4ecde8dc53). - It is now possible to take screenshots for brush assets. For more info see the User Interface section
- Painting in Sculpt, Vertex Paint, and Texture Paint supports randomization of hue, saturation, and value during the entire stroke or on a per-stroke basis (96e549c092).
Pen Tablet Tilt Support¶
In Sculpt Mode, a number of brushes have the Tilt Factor property exposed. This allows brushes to be modified based on the angle of the pen when using a drawing tablet (1232d64681).
When using a brush with this property, the inactive cursor display changes to provide a visual approximation of the tilted stroke.
The following brush types support this new parameter:
- Draw
- Draw Sharp
- Plane
- Clay Strips
Performance¶
- Sculpt brush performance has been improved when working on a base mesh or with the Multiresolution Modifier active on high vertex count meshes. (8c2888d578, af31eeb900).
- Node tools performance for simpler changes (when only positions, masks, or face sets are changed) has been improved significantly (0b891a68b1).
- The "Clay Strips" brush type received various optimizations to become 1.22x faster (e2b9839aea).
