@Carl Schwan (carlschwan) That's great news. I looked at https://phabricator.kde.org/T8449, and it seems that your goals are in line with ours. I'd love to see 2FA in there (I have a Yubikey myself that I use whenever possible); we just didn't have the time to implement that. Some more security improvements (like limiting nr of failed logins, monitoring API calls, etc) would also be very welcome. We'd definitely be interested in any improvements that the KDE project can make.

Only this step is required to contact to Blender online...
I think, it's not a problem related to Blender itself...
In your system checks if other apps are allowed to contact to internet... & something proxy setting you are using?
Looks like more system administrating problem...
try to contact one of the blender community sites https://blender.community/c/

Thanks for the reply.
At the moment, in order to entirely block Google Analytics, we recommend to use this tool https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout or an ad blocker.
Sorry for the harsh words, but from a users point this sounds like the little brother of "yeah, we have some viruses in our product-installer, just install an additional anti-virus tool".
Maybe there are some statistics-tools available that you can install locally on the blender-servers?

+1 on contact section in About page

I'll look into it tomorrow. Shall I just make a new static page called 'Contact' or maybe is safer to just add a 'Contact' section to https://www.blender.org/id/about ?

Pfff they don't even specify what kind of request will be performed (GET or POST).

It was there, but it does require you to sign up for a new account to see it, so it's kind of hidden I guess.
I've never seen that template before when I was making the new Blender ID?

Requests are properly packed for nightly buildbot builds, so sure enough site-packages externals are taken into account by the CMake itself. So must be something with particular way of packing/building.
I did some digging, Requests seems to be in SVN when you do this:
@Martijn Berger (juicyfruit) can you take a look at this? This should be fixed for 2.78-rc2.
Thanks for the bug report. Apparently the MacOS build of Blender is missing the requests module.

Hi there @Campbell Barton (campbellbarton)!

Quick reply to some of these issues...
Regarding having 3x operations, its OK, just wanting to avoid having every single transaction with the server adding a new operator (in the case more are needed).
The point isn't so much that there is some fixed limit to the number of operators you should define, more that operators are intended for users, not so much for defining lower level API's.
Looking into this, the blender-cloud add-on isn't even calling the operators.
So perhaps these could be removed and kept as API's the Python module exposes.

Great, some other points...

We're no longer using RNA to store authentication info; see rBIA4b43b5d53d6c68
- imports should be moved inline (especially heavy modules like requests), so its not slowing down startup:
