@Ivaylo Gogov (ivaydesign) glTF version 2.0 does not ship with raw shaders, as they are not very portable between different platforms (WebGL, OpenGL, Vulkan, Direct3D, Metal...). Often a shader is very deeply paired with the inner workings of the particular rendering engine it's used by, and can't meaningfully move between engines even on the same platform. glTF 1.0 had WebGL shaders and was tied specifically to the WebGL platform for this reason, but in glTF 2.0 the shaders have gone away, replaced by PBR (Physically Based Rendering) and a set of well-defined texture maps that enable a wide range of physically plausible materials. Thus, glTF 2.0 enjoys platform-independence and engine-independence.

@Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) exporting _RNA_UI indeed sounds bad, I think a good thing to do would be to skip all props which name starts with _ (this is common convention in python to mark as 'private', think it would make sense to never export those)?

On 2.8 there is NOTHING. I had to use 2.79 to get the objects and export

This is not a bug, but a restriction from BF to not include thumbnails into source.
A setup step is required to render thumbs,
user prefs -> add-ons -> archipack -> Setup actions -> render thumbs.

Actually (as far as I can see) this addon doesnt provide any functionality that is not builtin already.
Even if you fix the scene.master_collection vs. scene.collection issue you will run into asserts because all operators already exist in blender [now in C] and going further if you fix that as well, you will see that it is the exact same "Collections" panel that we already have...

I did roundtrips for gltf, fbx, colldada for the standard setup. None of them did a good job of preserving the shader. It would be nice if it were achievable to remedy this. Adding those adjustment nodes would only complicate that. The goal should be to make the import as convinient as possible while preserving the_correct_PBR_setup.
My suggestion would be to remove the gamma node for roughness (isn't a colorramp more usefull anyway?) as well as the multiply node connecting AO and base color.

I'm changing the status on this from "Incomplete" because I've supplied the FBX files needed to test this and resolve it. I've changed the Priority to "High" because this issue severely impacts interoperability with other 3D applications. With Blender having adopted LMB as a standard, it's clear that 2.8 is designed to appeal to new Blender users. Those coming from other applications will need a working FBX importer in order to migrate assets and take advantage of Blender's powerful toolset.

Sure thing. Check these out. The FBX should load into Blender like it does into Maya, UE4, etc. However it does not, as you can see in the attached screen shot.

@Ivaylo Gogov (ivaydesign) In the past few days there have been major improvements to the export settings, but unfortunately a serious bug has crept in with the "Save Settings" feature. I believe this will be fixed in the next few days.

This should loop over ob.data.uv_layers and adjust all uv layers. There is no need to tie this to materials or textures, it's not clear why the original code did that.

No problem, F2 and Bsurface are two of the most important and unique tools for retopo in Blender. And it should be included in 2.8 officially. Let me know if there are more fix please. Would be great for the entire community.

regarding texture_slots / uv_textures removal: I think this needs a different fix though (otherwise the whole Adjust UV functionality of the addon is broken/obsolete...)

  • This is a conversion from 2.79 to 2.8. This is my first patch submission to Blender. Sorry if it's a wrong type of post.
  • Although I am familiar with git but can't understand how should I create a diff as I can't make my repository/fork here.
  • It seems that texture slot has been updated in 2.8. Not sure about the inner workings of texture panel of 2.8.

I'm guessing that this might be because most addons are not yet updated to 2.8. So it's not really a bug in blender. It's just that the addons need to update to the new API changes

Thank you, I just did close blender, opened 2.79, and opened 2.8 over, and all Import-Export addons were enabled and checkboxes swithced ON in user preferences.
Some kind of glitch maybe.

Seems to work for me. Is there any error message in the console? You can open it by clicking on Window -> Toggle System Console in the menu at the top.
