This is a known limitation. The edit mesh wires do not write to the depth buffer because of anti-aliasing. But the rendered meshes correctly cover the constraint axis lines.

I think this is the constrain axis always drawing on top of everything else.
2.79 seemed to draw this with depth checking, but that couls also lead to ugly z-fighting [which on the other hand does not happen in 2.8]:


or be covered by geometry completely (still thinking if this is good or bad)

Agree though that four your particular usecase, this is a disadvantage/regression.

@Clément Foucault (fclem), @Jeroen Bakker (jbakker): was this a concious decission? Maybe a compromise could be to draw geometry on top in ortho?

In any case, this is probably not a bug, but a (justified) request for improved behavior, will let above two decide on this.

I hope that the modeling of the meshes themselves will not change much in a regular editor and will remain as they are now, but will simply be written to the node system in a separate editor?
Houdini, in my opinion, has one drawback, it is not convenient to work with uv there. If at the same time the work with uv does not change radically it will be very convenient when everything will be on ndoah.

Aaaaah, now I can reproduce and confirm the issue, thanks.

For a temporary solution, I replaced the file node_shader_utils.py from the old assembly and it became normal.

This adds nothing new to the problem.

For the last time, please attach here an archive with the exact .blend file you are exporting, the image texture, and the whole .obj and .mtl that it produces.

Thanks for the details, but if we are asking for a .blend file to reproduce the issue, there is a reason…

Tried to reproduce here with current master, and got expected MDL (the one without the NULL scaling, the -s 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 part).

Might also be that you are using an older version of the exporter, mapping node changed a few weeks ago, so we had to also update all the IO add-ons…

When choosing a texture in a material, the blender does not allow you to select unsupported formats, but sometimes you need to export the model with a different format but essentially the same texture.
Is it possible to open and assign any formats in the texture field even if they are not visible in the blender?
Example:
A model of a fuel barrel has been made. It uses the texture fuel_barrel.tga and the game needs its own texture in the tgm format; texture 2 in the format fuel_barrel.tgm is in the folder but you cannot select it in the material properties after all the settings. Previously, in some versions this could be done and the model was simply pink in the blender.
При выборе текстуры в материал блендер не дает выбрать не поддерживаемые форматы, но иногда нужно сделать экспорт модели с другим форматм но по сути той же текстурой.
Есть ли возможность открывать и присваивать любые форматы в поле с текстурой даже если они не будут в блендер видны?
Пример:
сделана модель бочки для топлива в ней использована текстура fuel_barrel.тга а в игре нужна своя текстура в формате тгм текстура 2 в формате fuel_barrel.тгм есть в папке но ее после всех настроек нельзя выбрать в свойствах материала. Раньше в каких то версиях это можно было делать и модель просто в блендер была розовая.

It is in Maya, 3ds max, Houdini, why can't a blender have such things?
Now, with 2.8, the interface design has changed significantly, a lot of gizmo has been added, this option would also be useful for beginners. Is this a difficult option, or will it have a big impact on performance?
There is an addon to create a line and the backlights work there and there is no performance problem.
I'd really like the developers to add this by default.

That's what I meant, I created a preset and I have to select it every time to use it. Why not add a button to use the default so that it always remains for this export? Which version of Blender are you using exactly (please try the latest).

Can you make a short screen recording that shows the issue?
Do other selections result in the same issue?
Does it only happen when the transform tool is active?

3DS MAX is also no newer than this version.
It is only needed to export models to old games.
Plugins are available only for versions 4 and 5 of MAX, so they are needed.
Therefore, it is more convenient to do everything in Blender and then only import to max and from there to the game.
FBH would be a good option but in those versions it is only 6.1 and it is not in the blender as a binary one.
Would remove this support in 2.8 then absolutely.

It was removed intentionally in rBe77d2b4e3f1a: Cleanup: remove legacy mesh save support.

I'm not sure why it should be kept, do you really need to be able to create meshes in latest versions and open them in 2.63? It's still possible to open the file in the official 2.79b release and save them with this option.

Not sure I understand correctly:

  • has this file been exported from blender? (afaics the exporter should write texture(paths), cycles/nodetrees are probably not supported)
  • I can write a 3ds and import again, and if the textures are e.g. in the same folder than the 3ds, blender will import the 3ds back just fine...
  • please post the corresponding .blend file (including textures) you are exporting from
  • please also provide any additional information [does this only happen with PSDs? Does this only happen with absolute paths? Only with relative paths? etc...]

He does not see long ways.

When it crashes nothing is displayed in the console. It just turns off.
