I seen it before in some commercial ones but can't remember exactly which ones.
Maybe, still it's an UI inconsistency. I should be able to press Ctrl + Something and the software to type it for me.

Apparently now after restarting blender the diffuse painting shows up but bump doesn't want to work at all. Really weird. Let me know if you need anything from me.

I would go for spaceless tab design if you choose no color, it's easier to find the tabs for me.
I like the dark blue colored version. You can't miss the active tab in that case. But the bright yellow one is way to distracting.

Agreed, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4uzIE1Q6n4 here around 5 min should show the smart thing. I loved the idea of being able to detect patterns. Very usefull.

- Make 2 windows
- Make a monkey(or whatever)
- Activate viewport rendering in a window - this will cause the BVH build sequence
- Enter edit mode for your object
- Make some edits - no BVH rebuild required
- Use undo, BVH rebuild each time you use it. = Time waste

It does lower the effect but it doesn't disappear completely even at 5 subdivs and . I think this is one of those cases in which a cheat is fine with me as long as I get something that looks good.
it does seem to look like the terminator issue you mentioned. But why isn't it fixed....

The top down has it's own issues. It would be nice if it would work in all cases but see fluid or multi res modifiers. They always stays on top. Hope that made sense.

I agree. Curved all the way looks better but there should be an option to disable outside/inside curvature just in case.

Would love to see more options for the bevel modifier. Like those found in C4D R15 . Although that's quite a lot of work I guess.
Just an idea. What about making those Modo smart selection types?
I would love to see a better implementation of the solidify modifier. Wasn't that an idea for this year GSOC or something?

You can assign individual shortcuts to each of the Shift + S functions.
well even now you could snap the cursor based on depth of the 3D view and it will attach to whatever is underneath it, although it is not very smart, like snap to center.

Now I think the shorcut alt - RMB would work as shorcut for that tool.
The 3D Cursor Object sounds like a good idea. Through just as an extra I would like it to remember the normal of whatever surface is attached to so new objects can be aligned perfectly to the surface. :)

Not sure, seems to be slower then usual using a tool but the 3D cursor isn't used that often anyway so it might work.
To combine the physics, particles and modifiers panel for a unified "pipeline". Now that would be nice.

What about a button on right hand side of each input like in modo where you can click and set the values to be equal or proportional or free.
I would just change the RMB to pie menus instead of 3D cursor. It is more used then it. Alt + RMB could work for 3D Cursor instead or even Q :).

Of course but you could change that. Make it like in the materials section where you got a list saved even if you remove a material(which for a stupid UX reason you can't remove items from it). So MMB will work as close instead of delete.
Why not close tabs by middle mouse button like on the web. Easier then finding a small X button anyway.

Well the custom MLT octane has it's slower as well by around 40% then normal PT. Not sure what kind of slowdown you get so can't say for sure.

I think I reported something similar a while ago and they said it's not a bug. Through I am pretty sure if they wanted they could find a fix based on the camera angle view.

Cache BVH no. But it does seem to make the problem appear later as not in the first frames.

Well in Octane Metro(well whatever hybrid they did) gives much better results for caustics. There might be some other things but don't know them.

Well I and many people out there want GPU support, so whatever works for that will be good.
For Metro Octane Render Team made some custom implementation. Most likely it's patented but maybe we can find a similar hybrid solution.
