I was able to reproduce this as well, maybe this will help your investigation:

System Information
Intel Core i7, 8 Gb RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7700
Windows 7 x64
Blender Version
Broken: 2.76b f337fea , 2.77 02cabda
Worked: No information

Short description of error
Rendered Viewport Shading show black background when render background is set to transparent and Background Images is on

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open Blender, go to Render panel and set Shading -> Alpha to Transparent for Blender Render (or Film -> Transparent option for Cycles)
  2. Switch 3D View Viewport Shading Mode to Rendered and you will have transparent background
  3. In Properties panel check Background Images and your Rendered background will turn black. Adding any images doesn't seem to affect anything.

    I was able to reproduce this both in 2.76 and 2.77, this seems to only affect Rendered Viewport Shading mode, OpenGL and regular renders seems to show transparent background.

*sigh* you meant, in render preview mode… Please make proper report with textual precise steps to reproduce the issue!

And this as already been report, it's no real bug, but rather due to how viewport handles transparency currently, there is simply nothing to show 'behind' transparency, so it's black.

At what percentage does the render crash? And what kind of crash to you get?

Can you turn down the complexity and still redo the crash (lower resolution, disable AA, disable, texturing, raytracing... etc... until you have a simpler file that still crashes).

Running this file in a debug build is very slow, its reached 70% and still processing, but no crash so far.

Also, please include information (os, blender version etc...)

The mesh is corrupt, but we can't fix the bug based on a corrupt blend file alone.

To fix this we need the steps to follow to create the corrupt file.

P.S. sometimes i was go to sculpt mode, switch on Dyntopo, draw anything - and crash(without go to rendered shading mode). But i was repeat it two times only, and can not repeat it again.

similar behavior we will have in T45214 and in T47033 max saturation material(without texture) - we will see this color in shadow pass,
use texture - we will see max saturation area only. If we use image testure - we will have this noize.

Don't really see a bug here. Texture buttons are corresponding to the current context of texture user. If slot doesn't have material assigned you simply don't have anything to link texture to ad showing texture button is meaningless.

if we go to modifiers, world, thysics menus, and then go to any other(except material) - we will see textures menu, and then go to materials - we will not see textures, then go to all other(except physics, world, modifier) - we will not see textures...

The limitation has always been there. There is a checkbox in the Options tab of the tools panel to show diffuse color while dyntopo is active.

But, the color not updating afterwards does look like a bug.

Edit: I've just tested the switch to multitexture with "show diffuse color" on, the object stays consistently showing the material color, nothing like your screenshots show. Changing the shading mode to textured makes the object look grey, but color returns if you switch back.

this is different things. Color management in all scene. And keying by difference between two images by R,G,B parameters, or HSV, difference between values of each channel. this is useful function.

But noe we can key by average value only, i don't understand, why we was delete it.

This was changed back when OpenColorIO was introduced around 2.64.

Color space is now controlled in the data block settings for each input image or clip, and in the scene's color management panel.

i don't understand, why "completely broken" maybe in this node we have other errors, but with value all properly - value equal maximum of R G and B. for Lift, gamma and Gain color selectors only, in image input color slector - working with bug.

Alexey, in my opinion color picker is "completely broken" in term of proper color management:

There is error in calculation, from the user point of view. The HSV should be calculated to RGB in linear fassion, then user will have proper understanding how
the HSV translating to RGB.

Now in blender when i set 80% VALUE in (H=0, S=0, V=0.8) it is translate to RGB value = (.604, .604 , .604) which is incorrect and is not 80% of total spectrum brightness (from 0-1,).
it shoud be RGB (0.8, 0.8, 0.8)

RGB(0.8, 0,8, 0,8) is translated to H=0, S=0, V=.906 which is incorrect too.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Please correct this simple calculation. It is for sure error. You can look for reference at other software (maxwell render, photoshop (where in 20% of brightness is RGB(51,51,51), etc).

Interesting fact: this bug is active in all RGB selectors(in nodes, materials, textures, world settings), but we will have proper working in "color balance"node color selectors only. In all versions.

The default antialiasing filter (Mitchell-Netravali) has negative lobes, meaning it produces sharpened edges.
While these edges look sharper, it can create pixel values outside the range of the original image.

Try setting the antialiasing filter to something else. I believe Catmull-Rom also has negative lobes, but everything
else should be fine.

Hi,

I didn't try it, but can anyone reproduce it in Blender 2.63? In Blender 2.64 we copied this node. If it is not reproduceable in 2.63, the migration of that node went wrong.
Otherwise we should perhaps look for other algorithms.

The original functionality was written back in 2.43 around Februari 2007 (http://archive.blender.org/development/release-logs/blender-243/)
