If you're absolutely switching from invisible to visible or vice versa, you could also simply scale an object to a value of 0 in the next or previous frame.

Sorry, I forgot a very important wish: reprojection of vertex colors, so vertex paint is preserved after OpenVDB remeshing.

If Slow Parent has been removed, is there an easy other way to establish the delay effect for children, driven by one object?

Thanks, I'll do so more tests as soon as the furious deadline monster is not breathing fire into my neck anymore. 🙂
One more observation: Dyntopo being switched off occurs only when I smooth with individual strokes. So I hold down Shift, then I stroke, lift the pen, go back to the start position, stroke again, and so on, in a very fast pace, and holding Shift all the time.
One more detail: my main 3D view window is split into three parts: at the bottom there are two Image Editor views with reference images. I don't know if that is of any importance, but I thought to mention it.
I've just tried on a subdivided cube, but can't reproduce it. It's probably a specific problem. It might also have to do with the length of a session. In other words: more risk of the issue occurring as you've been sculpting for a longer time.
I've sculpted some more, and it just happened again, while the Blob brush was active, and I performed a lot of fast strokes while holding Shift to smooth.

@Hans-Simon Sagave (wizardx) I read that there are plans for a Metal wrapper for Vulkan in the future. I guess a pure Metal version of Blender would require maintaining a separate macOS branch. But if you already want a taste of Metal-assisted rendering, you can try Radeon ProRender. It's quite well-integrated in Blender and is also free.

The black tiles issue when rendering with AMD GPU + Denoiser on Mac is still there in 2.8, and it's fully reproducable. Is there a chance of this being fixed in the near future? That'd be great.

Yes, that works. I didn't know that the gizmo is only visible when the Transform tool is activated. Is there also a direct keyboard shortcut for the Transform tool, in stead of Spacebar and then the T key?
