This is really similar with what Sybren proposed yesterday in this task: https://developer.blender.org/T68972

Hey as an animator using left click this is creating some problems. When I try to manipulate a bone, because of the drag threshold this is creating a delay between the input movement I do with the pen/mouse and the movement in the bone I'm tweaking

Keep in mind that I come from a background in animation, and my complaint is centered from the animator perspective and only for the editors that have a timeline.

Thank you, I understand how it works, customizing or changing the keymap is just a workaround to the problem not a solution or an explanation. What I'm saying is that this makes by default, using any animation editor unconfortable. The scrubbing feature was working fine, if the only reason to change it's behaviour and add the new left click area on top was the context menu, maybe the context menu should be on another shortcut. Otherwise it just become a big change for the worst when it comes to using the editors for the left-click users and is doesn't bring any improvements for the right-click users that can keep working as normal.
I think this change really cripple the left-click user, forcing them either to use a shortcut (Shift+RMB) to do a basic action they have to repeat all the time, or use a tiny area with left click that is hard to click.
