It'd still be helpful if we have a quick way to switch back to selection mode (even if we could select drag while in another tool). I will add my comments relating to this in https://developer.blender.org/T69992

One thing I'm missing when it comes to intuitive tool switching, is that it's kinda (although you could debate it) an industry standard to use the ESC key to cancel the active tool and switch to selection. This feature is missing from Blender. I think the system would become more intuitive if ESC switched the active tool to selection.

@Robert S (eobet) That is outside of the scope of this topic and this tool. Yes, parametric modeling is a much needed feature in Blender, but luckily Blender is moving in this direction with the Everything Nodes project.

One way you could look at it is that there's one command (grab) that exists in two flavors: active tool (with the gizmo) and modal.

As a new user starting to learn Blender, I have found the difference between the 'gizmo move tool' vs the 'G move shortcut' for example confusing.

Pieter Schiettecatte (Schiette) added a comment to T66424: Transform Tools: Perform on a base point.

If i may point out, there is a big chance a specific user would utilize these transforms with the same settings throughout a session (e.g. rotation with base point around z axis). That leads to conclusion it would be nice if the tool settings which would probably appear in the top bar remain the same until the user changes them again.

Thank a ton @Sebastian Parborg (zeddb) . I'm still starting out with Blender and didn't think of checking whether the mesh was continuous.

Speaking as a very new blender user (2.80 convinced me to switch), I have found the file browser hard to use. Mostly these two issues:
