I honestly don't have a clue, that what exact steps may have caused this, but it seems to be still happening in 'very' rare cases .. and seems to be happening around when you switch images from the dropdown menu in image-editor.

But still, while painting.. and while the blender session is maintained .. textures shouldn't just disappear like that. The preview is not the old one btw.. it is what I was in the process of painting.

I can confirm that Quadriflow fails on certain models sometimes .. while it can work with the very same model after a few tries. I was trying to remesh a leaf yesterday. I don't know why exactly this was happening .. so didn't report it yet.

Yes, I have just checked. Atleast the Particles conversion to Mesh is broken in the current build. Please see the attached video.

It might be so, that this bug has been resolved somehow. I recently used the Oct6 build: blender-2.81-54a9649e2636-windows64 .. and there seems to be no significant issue in switching to planar right now. Though it is still the type of decimate which takes the largest time to switch to among the three .. comparitively speaking. I wonder if it is due to its nature, and this is an expected behavior?

Dropped back to blender-2.81-92736a7b7592-windows64 .. and though I'm able to complete my remeshing attempts (same 450k tris file) .. it is taking me longer than before (yet still less than latest build) .. about 5-6 minutes.

just checked the latest build .. (blender-2.81-9609840b5ea1-windows64). now there is no crash when 'Use Mesh Curvature' is checked.

I noticed something too when using a GPU for cycles momentarily yesterday .. it seemed to be not working as it should (and does) normally. But I didn't dig deep since I was working in Eevee and have been busy. I have a AMD Vega64 btw.

Did I prepare the minimal file wrong? Just confirm, this for me. Here is what I did it... selected the planes in my original, copy and paste in new blend file and save. If I open this minimal file now... by going into render preview mode, and after applying the fix, I can see all 4 images properly. Do I need to provide you image files seperately?

Why not just use 'Straight' instead of 'Standard' since.. a straight conversion is being done. Using the word 'Standard' is not right in my opinion, as people may or may not know .. what is the standard way to do it, or may have been following a different 'standard' in other related softwares like Maya, Zbrush, etc.

  1. not the eye icon (which is for hiding in viewport) .. nor the collection level icon..

In other software as well as the intuitive feeling is this, that clicking in empty space should unselect everything. Blender does it for faces/etc selected in modelling viewport (edit mode), for example.

Than any ETA on this? Because there are other bugs that were fixed after 4th March and might hinder my workflow. Plus, I would be missing out on new features added since then.

I'm pretty sure that I have clean drivers(though I can check very deeply as well), as I had to do a clean back up few months ago, as some bug on AMD side was causing a annoying error (Basically AMD control panel was showing that updates were available, when you were already on latest drivers). I know how troublesome GPU drivers can get sometimes (thus I'm on a stable version, while a optional version is available).

@matc (matc) : I will download the 2.79 and test the same scene in it, and post the numbers shortly, to help out. Btw, although I'm unaware of the techinical details, but I kept a rough eye on my task manager, and the peak was hit for few seconds inbetween and towards the end as well. This is not a big deal now (for me), since my render times have increased significantly (ever since I unticked the second GPU listing mainly). But just letting you know, in order to help with future optimizations.

It seems you are right on that issue mostly, I just did a test render and checked performance in Task Manager and GPU Tweak 2, and this attached screenshot (Image1) shows the results. But then, I rendered the same scene with CPU option unticked in the user preferences, and the checked both Task Manager and GPU Tweak 2.
