  • This uses its own snapping and orientation, but it does utilize the automerge function.
  • The reason it is slow is because each frame it recalculates from the original geometry by iterating the destructive extrude bmop for each edge it's extruded past (line 350 of editmesh_extrude_destructive). This is very slow after extruding past many edges. But it could be optimized if the mesh were stored after each iteration so it would not have to recalculate from the original geometry, or something like that.

As far as the nearby/linked geometry:
It seems that being able to extrude all the way through is an important feature. Is there a good way to detect when non-local geometry was extruded past, then merge the extrusion into that geometry? Once the coplanar boolean improvements are in place, maybe some of that code could be utilized for this, in cases like @Juan Gea (juang3d) pointed out:

  • Create a cube
  • Make an inset in a face
  • Extrude backwards until you trespass the other side of the cube
  • I think a hole should be created, but instead we just trespass the faces and no hole is present.

Otherwise, with the boolean improvements, I wonder if using boolean entirely (like this addon) will be better than the method in this patch. The trade-off is that features like successive loop, original loop, and snapping to existing loops might not be possible.

Windows Ink enabled? This problem is only in Blender 2.8? In Bender 2.79 or Zbrash everything is fine? I had a problem with Hunion H430P. There brushes did not work correctly. After disabling Windows Ink the problem disappeared.

It seems the problem was in Windows 10. More precisely Windows Ink Workspace. I turned it off through the registry editor. Also in Blender indicated the use of WinTab

Desktop icons on Windows, Linux and Mac OS are different. The correct application icon is the very first. Flat icons are not accepted at all.

Problem confirmed on ubuntu 16.04 64 bits with 2.80 21523b5

It looks like problem is concerning edges of a boundary.
Delete a face on cube. It can't be selected by an edge delimiting the hole anymore.
But if you use box select on an other edge share on two faces : it works.

If you set Wireframe slider to 1 in Overlays settings : plane can be selected, now.


In the new assembly, the problem with wireframe objects was solved. It is still displayed incorrectly with the overlay turned off.

I specifically downloaded the new build (blender-2.80-26b1aa99436-win64) The error is still there.
This error is most often encountered in the work of strictly one of the projections. If you rotate the camera a little, then vertex will stand out.

I can not select vertex in wireframe mode. In solid mode everything is fine.
Ie I click on vertex and he does not stand out in any way. I switch to solid mode and he stands out.
This most often happens when you need to work in one projection. For example, modeling by reference. Or you need to pick a back vertex.
I was told that such a problem in Blender 2.5 was when it first appeared.

@Ray molenkamp (LazyDodo), those specifications are the OpenGL version supported at release. But later driver updates can change that, and checking a database like http://opengl.gpuinfo.org/ shows that this card does support OpenGL 3.3.
