My humble request to developers please implement this option in glsl render soon. It can be used to create animation characters like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3uLRjVHqIU in blender. This kind of features are important for the people create cartoon and stylized animation in blender. Because of this currently stuck with maya :(

setting the preferred graphics processor to nvidia in nvidia control pannel solved the problem.
Hi guys i used surf modifier sub divided a cube or sphere subdivided 6 times and applied the modifier and then did 4 more subdivisions and applied it and i also used some other decimated obj files imported from zbrush which has very high polycount. I have also attached the compressed zip file.
