I have monitored the memory usage and it appears to have a lot in reserve. I will check it again.

Do you have any suspicions for what the main culprit (suspect) might be? I will do some troubleshooting to see if I can figure it out. But, if you find out something that seems to be messing it up I would really be thankful to hear about it.
BTW, I did remove all the textures and shading but Blender would still shutdown. Would that lead to the conclusion that it has something to do with the number of polygons or maybe a mesh problem?

While I am in the Layout window Object Mode is selected. I have also selected the object in the Scene Collection panel. The background behind the little icon is highlighted after I selected it. I clicked on it. Then I pushed the . on the Numpad. The object does not return to the center of the Layout window.
But when I click on the Object Mode menu item I can then press the Numpad . and the object returns to the middle of the Layout window. Sometimes I have to select the Object Mode menu item several times before I can get the Numpad . to work.
