Try just now, seems working correctly. Maybe solved or I 'am missing something.
May be solves T65470 only it's causes flickering behavior for me
I think, this solve the prob, Resolve unexpected behavior of transformation values when switching b/e location/rotation/scale
The main prob is that:
(location = rotation = 0) != (Scale = 1)
Mean that default value for loc/rot is 0 and for scale is 1 which is causing prob (when switch from one to other)
After deeply diving the codding stuff, have to know that this prob is not only in extrude -> scale but exists every time you switch form other mode to scale mode.
e.g. You are in rotate mode to then switch to scale mode, selected object/face becomes 0 scale. Also issue in both object / edit mode.
Currently when you switch to other mode loc/rot/scale becomes 0 that's making prob.

The post is becoming too complex, I think.
The proposed bug/error/issue is not so complex. The solution could be simple. Just move the info from header to 3d Viewport like the info shows already:
I know it's not a perfect solution. but it can solve many problem. like hiding of 3d Gizmos while doing some operation and hiding of header...
For better improvement of the idea other speate post can be made like paper cut to gather info form users...
I think major prob/issues should be solved quickly as we can better improvements can be made time to time...

It's happening when you enter into Scale mode while you are in Extruding mode. In Scale mode (after extrude mode) you see this prob before any mouse movement...

I have checked thoroughly, where any possibility could fix the bug. But it's a little but a complex.

Actually problem I think is that, when there is some drawing in sculpt mode then box-select & lasso-select not works, rather it's perform last brush operation (under select tool in tool-bar).

Reset the active selection behavior, e.g to make last selected item active when extending selection with mouse click
I think cycle option works different. It's already in Blender 2.8 default by using W key in 3d Viewport.

I think it's more related to GSOC project. Also may be Fix T57746: Allow drag toggle for outliner disclosure triangles solves it (I don't check yet)

How is the idea about Ctrl + Shift + Up/Down to deselects one side and continue other side?

I try hundred of time by using different methods also in different modes it works find, without even any little warning.
@William Reynish (billreynish) But in may case it's works correctly! If you can find some error in Console. If you can provide some more info. Or capture on-screen video so i can understand. Really it works fine for me. Otherwise how can i capture the video???

Implement navigating selection with arrow key in Outliner
Extending Selection Ctrl + Mouse Click is implemented in the pre Diff.
I will try my best to add all those features, which I already implemented in others patch. and also i present in the idea section.

I will implement my this suggestion today...
I think now it's better. Sync Selection when navigation with arrows. In this way the confusion also eliminated (new selection implementation).
