Aside from the major inconvenience of having to render a Scene out into an Image Sequence before being able to integrate it into the VSE, another significant drawback is the lack of "Bullet Time". I had always used the "Speed Strip" in the VSE atop the Scene Strop to create a "Bullet Time" effect in videos. While this might still be technically possible, it would require constantly shifting back and forth between different Scenes in order to get the timing achieved properly.

Wait: Then how do you edit animations in sync with audio and images in the VSE?

(Yes, I mean "Vertex Slide", not "Edge Slide". My fault.)
Because of the stupid "drag-and-drop only" option. Why would they not allow a "Browse for File" option like 100% of other sites?

This seems like a "showstopper" to me. I've just been experimenting with the Sun Beam Node for hours and this makes it nearly unusable perhaps 75% of the time. (Well, it can be used, but there's all sorts of secondary steps needed to clear out that dot.) I don't believe the Sun Beam Node should be packaged if this persists in it.

Great thanks for your work. God bless!

Well, the "regression" sounds best to me.

Great thanks as always, fellas!

But smoke will still be generated in BI for the forseeable future, correct? (And note that, with Freestyle and some of the other functionality exclusive to BI, it's still probably in heavy use. For instance, I came across this problem when creating a simple "2.5D" photo animation, as inspired by this tutorial: http://blog.patdavid.net/2014/02/25d-parallax-animated-photo-tutorial.html. That is something that BI seems far better suited for than Cycles.)
It would seem fairly simple, to me: Just make the Smoke Domain have the same "This Layer Only" option that lights have.
Because smoke would seem to frequently require modification - changing the color to brown or gray or green, depending upon the context - and because the Smoke Domains tend to be so large and interact with so many Objects, I am surprised that this issue has not come up very often.

Whew! Just downloaded the Daily Build and, at last, I can delete my old 2.67 version that I was using for character animations!

I greatly appreciate your work on this. Greatly. (I continue to be surprised that more people are not reporting this. Perhaps others just don't use the NLA as much as I do.)

Is there ANY way that this critical bug could be fixed for 2.70?
Feb 24 2014
Is there anybody besides Aligorith who can look at this? I don't know what his timeline is, but it wasn't before 2.69, and now it's clearly not before 2.70.

This Bug - which, for me, makes extensive character animation virtually impossible (I am still using 2.67) - has not been fixed as of "blender-2.69-cc7cfd6" (the latest build as of February 17).

Alright. It's good to see that you guys are on top of things (as usual, except for my NLA Bug! https://developer.blender.org/T36496)

Okay. Well, I'll personally use the "Draw All Edges" whenever it comes up.

Has there been any progress towards a fix?

Appreciate the boost in priority, brecht.
