One more thing. If try to recreate the test file with blender 2.80 from scratch, I've got the same very low frame rate as Félix (19 fps see attached screenshot). 2.80 seems to "corrupt" file made from scratch with it.
We might have two different issues there.
To go further with this test, I've modified the 2.76 file, I've set the frame rate to 120 fps. The I reste to factory default, I open the file, I hit play and I screen shot in the middle of the sequence (to avoid the cache effect). I only test this file, ans not the other anymore.
Here's the results :
2.77 : 60 fps
2.79 : 30 fps, but the scrubbing (especially backward) is verrrrry sluggish.
2.80 : 30 fps, but the scrubbing (especially backward) is verrrrry sluggish. I've tried with ou without the cache, the first read frame rate stays the same.

confirmed. The sequencer performance is going worse version to version

thanks a lot Joshua. I wasn't aware that getting a selection was a pointer. I'll try to propose a change to the addon with the work around you proposed.

"blender loose connection" means the proxy rig is not linked to the actual rig anymore. When I move the proxy, the linked armature won't move.

you're right, with a glass shader it works. This is strange, I thought Blender Internal, or Vray, compute no reflections in its refraction, when reflection are disabled or completly dark. Anyway, no I know I shouldn't use refraction alone. And for the CPU/GPU issue it only happens in viewport, not in render, and only with refraction shader.

Forgotten to say : images in order are from : Cycles - Vray and BI. All material are pure refraction with an ior of 1.5. Just one light, no shadow.

This writer reader thing seems great.

Hello Lukas! When you ask :Do we really need multiple caches for each object? There is an important parameter, when we work with teamates, animators often overwrite pointcache for only a character, and render team sees updates in its scene. Would it be possible to do this if there is only one big cache file for the scene? Would it possible to link a character from a file, and a set from another file? And would it be possible to overwrite a file while someone else is reading it?
