Sorry, this is resovlved, I had text files within the document that needed to be embedded in the file and I had open shading language checked on, my mistake, sorry for the inconvenience
if I do "report missing files" I see this comes up in the info window:
Path '/Volumes/Applications/blender-2.76-OSX_10.6-x86_64/blender.app/Contents/Resources/2.76/scripts/startup/bl_ui/space_view3d.py' not found
Path '/private/var/folders/yn/00g_ndtj4zg19kknpw_7yx5h0000gn/T/AppTranslocation/0FC35CD5-A534-4C24-8B04-AC0D90479778/d/blender.app/Contents/Resources/2.78/scripts/addons/cycles/ui.py' not found
Many thanks Brecht,
I was able to open and use Blender with the Rebus plugin.
However, I sent some files to render, and I got an error that I need to resolve.
I'm not sure if this is related to the work that you did, or if I have done something wrong here, though it renders on my machine.
the error reads:
"Your render job is crashing with the following errors:
Error: No .oso file could be found for shade
Error: Could not find shader 'node_image_
Would you know of anything I can do to fix this?

Many thanks Brecht, or never? Hope that was "or newer" :) , I hope you have just saved a huge project I am working on. Thanks again.
Thanks, and one last thing, before you go, how will I know which nightly build to download, or when, will it have a name that suggests this fix, or will it be the only one available tomorrow?, I've never downloaded a nightly build before
Many thanks Brecht, Will this be a download as a Blender release on the main page, or do I find this in the nightly build?
Also, I'm wondering, that since I have uninstalled Rebus and its associated file, and Blender still crashes on opening, is there another issue?
I uninstalled all versions of Blender, and uninstalled Rebus render farm plugin, and restarted, and I also disconnected my two external hard drives, and I'm still getting the same crash on opening.

My apologies, I did find the Blenr folder in the library of Users/my name etc, it wasn't in the main library. I tried moving those two files to the desktop, but it still crashes on opening
It does seem to be connected with Rebus render farm, as I am only experiencing this trouble after they updated their plugin. However, when I uninstalled their plugin, I still cannot start blender
Thank you for the advice. I do not have Blender file in Library/Application Support. It doesn't exist for some reason.
I'm on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.3
