Regarding the patch: "FOUND!!!" isn't output but
wanted: (1015, 801)
got: (1014, 800)
is.
So obviously an off by one error.

First I tried rearranging the layout a bit as some of you have suggested and I was indeed lucky for the first time. I got working mouse control in fullscreen with all other editors hidden except for view3d.
I found it weird that it only works in fullscreen mode and I noticed since I have my dock hidden on the left side of my screen the blender window was slightly displaced to the right by a few pixel. Moving the dock to the bottom of my screen I actually got working mouse control in windowed mode with the limitation of not being able to look down.

Fabio, I'm not sure what you mean about tearing and FPS. Are we talking about the same bug?

I'm on a rMBP with OS X 10.11 Beta 4 using the latest build from repo (f979115) and I also have this issue (no mouse control in fly and walk mode). I tried restoring factory settings to no success. Then I renamed the 2.75 folder in Application Support. Still no use. The only way I can make mouse control work is when entering fullscreen mode (alt+F11). Also during testing in fly mode I managed to loose all input focus with Blender reacting to no input at all. The only way was to open Mission Control and killing Blender. This is not good.

OK, based on Pawel's comment I have a new proposal which would be a bit more work: first get rid of the new snap_grid_absolute. Only keep snap_increment. Then add a toggle for absolute/relative snapping which is only shown when snap_increment is active. This toggle is only shown for transform orientation/spaces where it makes sense and an origin exists. So only show it in global/local orientation. Normal and view don't have an origin where absolute snapping would make sense AFAIK. When absolute is checked and incremental snapping is active make translation/rotation/scaling work as the second option I mentioned in my previous post. Also respect the orientation/space and don't override it as with snap_grid_absolute right now.

Regarding the icon order: I had already uploaded an updated blender_icons.svg in the summary, where I grouped the snap icons (and moved older ones to fit) and added Pawel's final icon. Didn't want to add the SVG file to the patch because it was 4MB.

I don't know what to do about other transform orientations than the global one when using the 3D manipulator or any axis constraints. Should the translation be snapped to the grid regardless of any axis constraints?

Did some testing. There's a new problem: scale and rotate are affected by t->center_global and are having offsets based on the position. I think the desired behaviour would be that scale and rotate behave like snap_increment when snap_grid is active. What do you think?

Well, the issue wasn't related specifically to the top view. But when moving from top view in orthographic projection iter_fac will be 0.1 instead of 1.0. And absolute snapping wasn't working with iter_fac < 1.0.

  • When constraining the transform by axis the transform won't snap to absolute grid positions of unconstrained axis
  • When holding shift the transform snaps to decimal steps (1.0, 0.1 up to 0.01) of the grid

@Paweł Łyczkowski (plyczkowski) I also like the clear difference between increment and grid in v2. Nice work! :)
Two things which bother me with the old grid icon are that the blue circle on the sphere has 2x pixels which is kind of visible on high dpi displays and that the center point is slightly off the grid. The latter might be so that the grid is more visible which is understandable.

The issue with the constraints is I handle them in the applyGridIncrement function itself (right now only 'APPLY' and the three axis). I don't know if there's more I should check and whether the function is the best place to check.

Please note the exact steps to reproduce this problem are:

  1. Press Command+Tab to switch to any other application
  2. Open Mission Control and click on the Blender window

The Blender window should animate into position and before it finally arrives it will be ordered back into its old position.

Well there's still a small flicker sometimes as if the window gets put to the back in one frame and then to the top. It isn't perfect but basically it works...

This works. :)
But it doesn't really go to the root of this problem. Now the window disappears in the background and immediately comes to the top again which looks weird. Also if you have multiple Blender windows and you're in another App and click on one Blender window all Blender windows are brought to the top.

[[NSApp keyWindow] orderFront:nil]; after systemCocoa->handleWindowEvent(GHOST_kEventWindowActivate, associatedWindow); didn't help.

I had a look at it again and you can forget my patch. It has nothing to do with the problem, sorry. I narrowed it down why it worked for me to a break point I had set which just prints the eventType in GHOST_SystemCocoa::handleWindowEvent without pausing execution... Disabling the break point leads to the old behavior. Replacing the break point with a printf statement has no effect on the glitch.
