Got rid of the 'add' variable for tabs on the left edges. The '-1' that was being added made the tabs asymmetrical.
Added comments and cleared extra tabs.
Fixed uninitialized variable 'add' and removed unnecessary variables x,y

Could you clarify where the buttons window is? Is that the toolbox on the left?
I also see an error I made creating two useless x,y variables. I think it needs a cleanup anyway, this is just my first pass.
I'd like to take this on as a first project. Can I assign myself to it?

as can be seen in these screenshots checking the 'backface culling' option in the overlays tabs affects which faces are shown when using the evee rendering engine in the viewport. You are correct that it doesn't affect the rendered view in cycles. if that shouldn't be the case i can open it up as a separate bug.
Should backface culling show up in all the shading dropdowns? I ask because it might be difficult for users to find the checkbox if it's only accessible when 'solid' mode is selected. It affects all of the shading modes, so I think it should be on all of them, including 'rendered' which currently greys out the shading dropdown. Maybe this option should live under the 'render' tab of the properties window?
