  1. It's not just snapping that has this problem. If you have proportional editing turned on you can press shift+O to toggle falloff type and alt+C to toggle connected inside transform operator. If you do either of these they have same problem as snapping toggle, the buttons in header only update once you hover over it. Same for UV editor proportional edit buttons.

I've used my diff a couple times now just to rename a bunch of large object count old blend files. So you can add the diff and compile your own blender if you want to rename with walk, while we wait for proper support for active object selection when walking. Maybe coming in this next gsoc.

Hi, I'd like to request that this be reviewed, weather it is accepted or abandoned. It has been 3 months with no other response. I also have another patch that fixes an unreported bug that is related to selectmode consistency between toolsettings and editmesh/bmesh in loop cut but this is blocking.

Hi, as you can see in the screen shot, I can also open it too, but only when my monitors are at the default order (screen 1 = left, screen 2 = right)

My problem is, my screens are the other way round, screen 1 = right, screen 2 = left), and when I open it with that configuration, it doesn't open citing a openGL problem

There really is no broken code bug here. It is just a request to move the save current file popup from the File->Open operator to instead only popup once you have chosen to open a file in the file browser.

@Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) Yes I think this is probably the best solution for now. ND_TOOLSETTINGS at least will update multiple headers and not whole areas. You will want to do something similar just above that code were it saves out proportional editing toolsettings also. At least now the button display will not be stale.

Yes in the code, when there is a single edge loop with even number of edges, then it smartly tries to split it into two edge loops. If there is odd number then it skips splitting and reports that you need two edge loops. Instead it should report that you need even number of edges in a single edge loop. Confirmed, but low priority.

I consider it a bug. I'm pretty sure it's intended to be able to mouse look even if you are moving the mouse when you start the operator. Unfortunately I can not reproduce this on my linux systems, so will have to get someone that can to look into it.

Ok I looked into this a little bit. Current code doesn't change scenes tool settings from face to edge, only the edit meshes selectmode. Think we can safely use EDBM_selectmode_disable_multi to just always disable face select mode if this tool is used, much like the loopcut tool.

Although it works as long as you check store data on the boolean mesh target, it seems like the system should be able to handle combining smartly.

@Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) Yes I only added it there because the other spots inside EDBM_selectmode_convert that do a contraction use it. Such as Face->Vert and Edge->Vert. It could work in either place, but I think that either way they should be consistent. So maybe remove other flushes in EDBM_selectmode_convert. I am no bmesh expert though.

I notice that EDBM_selectmode_convert function is what does the expansion/contraction. All mode switches that go down from higher to lower use BM_mesh_deselect_flush except for the one that goes from faces to edges. I made a patch that just adds BM_mesh_deselect_flush to that code path also, seems to work for me.

Yes the last part is normal operation. The part that is wrong is that if you go from faces to edges and in the process no edges are selected (because you don't have any adjacent faces selected) then the faces remain selected even in edge mode. The faces should be unselected in this case but they are not. If you then ctl click expand back to face mode you would think that no faces would be selected because no edges were selected in edge mode, but now the faces that were selected at the start are still selected.

Yes I see. I tried again your file but could not get it to crash. Need to get it to crash on a devs system so we can get good info. It still crashes if you do File->Defaults->Load Factory Settings? Also I see you use gizmo to move edge, does it still crash if you use "G" key to start move?

@Nathan Craddock (Zachman) I understand that there are issues with changing the active object through walk selection, but it seems that it would be ok to still rename things not from active object but from most recent walk selection if there is one and then active object only if there is no active walk.

Thanks for the file. When I check your file you can see that the wall section you are trying to boolean is not solid. It seems maybe there was already a boolean applied or intersected on inside half of wall mesh. If I fix this and make the section just a plain wall face, and I also make it more manifold by added a face to the bottom, then this is the result I get:

If you select the display mode of the outliner to Orphan Data then a Purge button shows up that you can click to remove things that have 0 users. The python code for the purge operator is "bpy.ops.outliner.orphans_purge()"

All I think he means is that it pops up and asks to save a changed file before you have even opened the file manager window. You may not even open another file if you cancel. Instead it could ask only if you were to actually open another file. Like I said, pretty minor issue.

In addition what seems to trigger it is when you ctl click from faces to edges and it would leave no edges selected, it then leaves the faces selected in edge mode. If you then ctl click back to faces they will still be selected. In contrast, if even 1 edge is selected when you first ctl click to edge mode then the faces are unselected and when you ctl click back to face mode only the faces connected to the selected edge are selected.

Well if Orbit Sensitivity somehow gets set to 0 then that would for sure cause issue, but it should be almost impossible.
You can't set it to 0 in interface because RNA has a min. Could be something in versioning code. Still could use .blend file or exact steps to reproduce.

Yes if you do a series of object joins it's creating a massive undo stack, storing the data multiple times. You can do like you did and disable undo, also if you do not join them 1 by 1 but as one big group it will only be 1 undo. I don't think there is a bug here.

Unfortunately, setting the origin that far away (1000000000) from the vertices runs into precision errors in floating point numbers. This is the data type that is used in blender and many similar apps. At this time blender is not going to change this data type.

Thanks for report. Marking resolved. Functionality is provided by snap mode "Above Surface" like in 2.79. The snap mode "On Surface" uses the offset property to move verts in the direction of their original location, and if the original location and it's shrinkwraped location are the same it can't get a direction and therefore doesn't move.

Yeah I see now you are talking about if mesh verts are already EXACTLY matching the shrinkwrap target then offset doesn't work on those verts. It does work I think if you set snap mode to above surface though.

Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe VMWare graphics card on Mesa 11.2.0 driver on Windows 7? Pretty sure we don't support software opengl. If you don't mean to use software opengl maybe reinstall proper video driver. Maybe there is an opengl32.dll sitting somewhere like install directory that isn't wanted. If you do want software opengl maybe there is a newer version.

Tried everything I could think of with snapping for 15 minutes on that file with those edges, everything worked just fine. Maybe do a File->Defaults->Load Factory Settings and try again. Otherwise maybe someone on windows can test.

It only seems to crash once you do voxel remesh and then when you move brush back over object.
