I think the whole behavior of breaking uvs by moving polys is just not right and this is creating huge issues when exporting to meshes to other software. Also causing render engine errors. And there is no way to actually visualize if you accidentally have "De-merged UVs".
Breaking of UVs should only be possible on user's explicit demand. Right now, if you just start moving verts or poligons in the UV editor with the wrong "Sticky selection mode" you can make a huge mess without noticing. I am not sure what the intention of these "modes" is, but it all looks totally broken and buggy to be honest.

I support the first option. Starting clean with SculptGL base implementation and then add more features with time. It is very often the case with other older software that rely on very old code, always dragging its limitations and issues forward instead of starting clean with fast code...

@Micah (Micah) can you make a simple test case for me, with a Blend file, the ABC as exported from Blender, and the ABC re-exported from Cinema 4D? Then I have an example of what the data in the Alembic file should be, and can work to make Blender export that too.

Yes seems like we have the same problem with Alembic export. FBX or obj export works correctly but Alembic doesn't.

I support with both hands this outliner design features. They will make outliner both as mentioned more efficient and at the same time less confusing, but also closer to a 3ds max / Maya / other 3d apps outliner way of working which is good for new artists coming from other software.
