For what it's worth, I have a Wacom Intuos5 L with the latest drivers on Windows 10, and on the latest Blender build, as well as all other previous builds, It doesn't appear that subpixel precision from the tablet driver is used. This is most apparent when removing stroke post-processing and smoothing options and attempting to write cursive text in very small prints.

Most 2D painting programs use pen tablet events from the pen tablet driver (e.g. wintab) instead of OS mouse cursor events for pointer position. This also allows subpixel precision and better accuracy. Perhaps this is where the problem lies?

I found that the issue does not occur with AMD Display drivers 18.7.1, but it does occur with 18.8.1. Curiously the OpenGL version reported in the driver was higher in 18.7.1 and from 18.6.1 to 18.7.1 there was change in version number.

After trying almost everything, in the end I found that if I resize the program window Blender doesn't freeze after switching to Lookdev/Eevee. It remains to be seen why the above scene works also with the maximized window, on the other hand.

I found that I cannot switch to the Lookdev/Rendered (Eevee) view with factory settings and the default cube without Blender 2.8 freezing (as of build 4b6fa4d897a 2018-08-12 05:22), but this older test scene I had saved several days ago works for some inexplicable reason.

As I went to confirm that this bug got resolved I found that F12 rendering now doesn't work at all (Blender doesn't crash, but it freezes and must be forcibly closed), either with release or debug builds, and regardless of whether Freestyle is enabled or not. This only happens when EEVEE is the active Render engine.

I'm apparently not getting any specific OpenCL error using a debug build of Blender, but I'm getting a program crash on the latest 53c56b2b5fd as soon GPU scene rendering with Cycles is initiated by pressing F12, with:

  • AMD Radeon RX480 4GB with Radeon Software 18.7.1
  • Windows 10 Pro x64 (1803)

The Principled Hair BSDF for now is only compatible with Cycles. I don't think it is meant to work with EEVEE yet.

A smaller, simpler file might be better to show the issue.

As of Blender 2.8 f08f6c1adec I'm not able to reproduce the above issue anymore (with a release build). Freestyle still doesn't get rendered correctly with EEVEE (F12 render shows a black screen), but I guess that's to be expected at this stage.

This time I even used a debug build, quickly obtaining a crash within 1-2 attempts of rendering the image with Freestyle enabled, as of e91bdb10e9c. Note that it says RX580 but it's actually an RX480 (there should be no difference OpenGL-wise; this is due to a GPU modification).

I think it should at least try to get one axis perpendicular to the selection, or at least that was the behavior I expected when I tried to change the Transformation Orientation to Normal.

On the latest Blender 2.80 local build on Windows 10 64bit 8a42b3909f3 I found that while I cannot create them without the program crashing, I can display and tweak Curves and Text created under 2.79, but not Surfaces. Here is an attached file to quickly test this, made with Blender 2.79.

It could be a GPU vendor-specific issue. What GPU are you using? I just tried again with the latest buildbot build, and it crashed on the first attempt, by the way.

After some investigation, it appears that 680994643cf76f3b0643d0fc4d8a32094431c026 still makes GPU memory occupation increase when tweaking shaders on the default cube when EEVEE is the active rendering engine, but Blender doesn't crash right away.

From an end-user standpoint I would expect the object to curve along the visible (final/deformed) curve rather than its base geometry. If that was unwanted I could still duplicate the curve and remove the shrinkwrap modifier. With the current behavior I am prevented from choosing a possible option.

The results are the same regardless of the Shrinkwrap modifier mode. The curve with the shrink wrap gets shrinkwrapped, but the objects that deforms along this curve doesn't follow its shrinkwrap deformation.

Update: Blender does not crash if the primary display is on the integrated Intel GPU and the secondary display is on the AMD GPU.
I had to resave the file so that both windows are still opened on different displays upon opening.
This points to a driver issue.

The error above somehow made me suspect if it is a problem related with the compiler used to build the program. So I tried the currently available latest x64 build (102394a).

No crash log appears to be generated. A "blender_a05604" temporary directory gets created, but it's empty. Nothing related in the parent temp directory or in the directory of the blend file gets created either.
