Hey Sergey, as we can no longer use a subsurf modifier without opensubdiv shouldn't the WITH_OPENSUBDIV option be removed entirely? make it a non-optional lib dependency.

Actually this is more a RCS request than a bug
While not in object mode do an operator search for Select Pattern - just patt will find it. Any blend file will do.

@Gaia Clary (gaiaclary) Seeing that the collada releases from 1.6.64 to 1.6.68 were all tagged in less than two months I would just make 1.6.68 the required version. If anyone is updating from 1.6.63 there is really no reason to build any version before 1.6.68.

Yes, and only those tooltips fail, so some variation with the toolbar? The first line does show, it fails both with py and dev tips on and off.

commit 503866c68154 was what I reported the crash on. Just checked again with 45751065c0e1 - same. I'm also not 100% sure my crash is same as original reporter.
What was meant to resolve this, I don't see any change, now using 777e1b9654ca

When a composite node tree has two viewer nodes, clicking one of them will update the Viewer Node image shown in the image editor which is also used for the node editor backdrop. I don't see a way to do this update from python (with or without a UI).

I think the addon update is a good idea but expect it to be less useful if we can get this accepted as a standard addon. After downloading an update it would be nice to reload the addon automatically. While it is possible to disable and enable the current addon I don't know if it would be 100% reliable and doubt it would be acceptable practice.

I had noticed the cache and user materials being saved to the installed addons folder but haven't addressed the issue. While including some bundled materials is fine, the online cache and user saved materials should be moved.

I think it is too wide spread to focus on each effected property.
I did include the steps needed, add a particle system, key a value and try and change it. Any object can be used to start.

A few changes have been made to the online_mat_lib addon since my previous patch. This new patch replaces both previous patches to be applied against the current master of online_mat_lib with some newer fixes as detailed below.

Back in Aug 2014 I found that changes to ShaderClosure was the cause of an osl related crash and later verified that following changes there produced crashes, which lead to the discovery of the alignment issue.

OSL from nazgul shouldn't be used. That repository hasn't been updated for 12 months and has been left at 1.5.11.

My mistake, osl 1.6 has changed back to vector<string> so the osl test is correct based on the fact that we don't want to support osl < 1.5.12 based on response from @Sergey Sharybin (sergey) to D1062

@Patrice Bertrand (PatB) I know it can be disheartening to have your work scrapped, you should put this down to an exercise in learning your way around blender's code and find another task to work on, maybe go with modifier nodes ;-)

@Jonathan Williamson (carter2422) I had thought of explaining that on the wiki page but it is still shorter than some tooltips so is a good workable idea.
Extend tooltip for tooltip preference setting to expose the alt/option alternative.
Use uiBut->flag for temporary storage instead of UserDef->flag

For the record I still want this in master and keep using my own version of blender to keep this feature. This is a great to way to stop tooltips getting in the way all the time.

I found a cause for this. I am re-opening this issue as I can't reproduce a crash with the example in the other issue T40971 - environment maps with osl, so I can't be sure they are related.

Probably of note is that "Cache BVH" sounds like an option that many people will just turn on without knowing or looking into when it offers a benefit. I'd say that a majority of animations won't benefit from it so there will be many users that end up with a cache file for every frame of every animation they have rendered.

While it's not really a bug on the blender importing as the real issue is at the initial data creation, I think it could be better if blender handled cases of bad data as shown in the stackoverflow example. I'm also expecting this could apply to more than just the ply import script. That's why I thought a todo would be better than bug report.

@Andrew Price (andrewprice) I remember back before tooltips became little yellow squares next to the cursor, Apple's balloon help used a speech bubble that was placed away from the object with the little triangular piece bridging the gap to the item. That gave an unobscured view of the item with a clear indication of what it belonged to.
