Can we have separate industry standard navigation (Alt+click movement and basics) and Blender default keymap at the same time? Industry compatible option is currently frustrating for existing Blender users who also use Maya etc - when you were given a familiar alt+click navigation but you're completely lost in new hotkeys... Although I use many apps, I only set Alt-navigation and F for the center in Blender because my muscle memory has already remembered default Blender keymap for years. The only thing which irritates me a lot is that still when you try to orbit with Alt-LMB when the cursor is hovering on any object, you move the object instead of orbiting. So in a dense scene, you can't even orbit. I'm not sure if it happens when Industry compatible is ON, but when you set your own keys it does, and it's frustrating.

I'm kind of deep into this, that's why I was able to catch this. Once I get the buildbot with the fix, I'll run it through tests with my setup. I can report back here, if it's OK with you.

The culprit is X-Ray set to =1:
(VIEW3D_PT_shading) Shading (DropDown) > X-Ray (Enabled, and set to =1)

I had a very functional keymap for 2.7x, that I have rebuilt for 2.80. It's got a fully integrated LMB selection, and Maya ALT-Navigation.

For Sculpting and any brush/painting related modes, can we have something like in the addon by Vrav, Sculpt Paint Workflow Suite.
The feature allows both brush size and strength to be adjusted by gestures on the same hotkey. RMB Click-Drag Up/Down=Strenth; RMB Click-Drag Left/Right=Size.
You could borrow some of the code he has?

Just wanted to confirm, that you are correct.
When I unmap view3d.select [mapped to Mouse > Selection Mouse] it works.
I used to need that in the 2.6-2.7x series, that's why I left it on when I started recreating my setup on 2.80

I have the SelectShortestPath with FillRegion mapped to other mose+hotkey combo. I used that to select the faces from Step #2
As you can see in this image, after I have selected those faces, I deleted them, and then I use SelectShortestPath (without FillRegion) and that's where the bug happens.

I can confirm this.
I use blender as much as the pipeline (max+vray) permits in production on a daily basis.
This and the SelectShortestPath bug (that I have just reported) are the biggest stoppers for me to start using 2.79

The problem is, this build blender-2.78-641e586-win64 from less than 2 weeks ago 10/4/2016 works fine.
And all the builds prior to that. So there must be something with the new buildbots that is crashing Blender with this setup.

This report was actually initiated by other modelers bringing this issue to my attention. Initially it was reported as a bug in my custom setup. After further testing and confirmation from other modelers, across different configs, it was confirmed that it's not my setup, but actually the way it's implemented in Blender, so I decided to file a bug report.

Apparently the Multi Extrude Plus function of the addon works in Object Mode. And Sanctuary (of BA) has raised concern of loosing it in Object Mode.

I think it's a combination of a file that needs to be a bit more 'heavy' in lack of other terms.
But even more so, it's a special type of motion that would trigger it, something that comes natural when using tablets, not really a natural mouse type motion.

First of all, there should be a change of the title for this bug report. Only after the initial creation of this bug report was I able to actually pinpoint the main problem of what's going on. And let's say, that actually the main problem is Box Select getting stuck sometimes when clicking.
